Yes great shame, I went to their last open day, which was very busy. They had a good selection of bikes.
Sad news indeed, unfortunately I fear there will be many more. I bought a RSVR from them a few years back, decent people.
Whenever i went there their staff were very helpful and friendly, a sad loss for locals who rely on that dealership for parts and servicing.
Used to be a favourite ride out from Shaftesbury in the 80’s. Full of Harleys & associates clothing back then
I test rode a 916 there back in 1997...it was a freezing cold day and they just said bring it back when you’ve had enough. Great place. Sad that they have had to close.
No...to be honest, I was never going to as I couldn’t afford it at that time. I just wanted a go on a 916 to see if they were as good as the press said. I ended up buying a second hand 748 (mag Marchesini’s, carbon fairings, rearsets etc) from a shop in Paris in May 98. Went over on Eurostar, rode it back, got stopped for speeding just outside Dover! Saved a packet on the price back then, it cost me FF55000 (~£5500).
The bike had Parisian plates and the coppers likely thought I was French (I was pretty fluent back then having not long returned from 2 years in France), I did consider feigning “Je ne comprends pas l’anglais, monsieur le cochon...” but admitted I’d just bought it...clocks in km/h etc. They let me off.
Sorry for jumping on this one,but did you notice the difference in the power between the two machines back to back.
