748/999 Build

Discussion in 'Builds & Projects' started by Russ21, Oct 20, 2019.

  1. Extended the 999 injector wiring loom to reach the 998 throttle body plug (plug on 998 TB is opposite to 999). Also enlarged one of the 25mm holes to properly accommodate the multi pin loom connection. Should be the last time the airbox has to come off. 20200403_165825.jpg 20200403_185626.jpg 20200403_185651.jpg 20200406_152911.jpg 20200406_152952.jpg

  2. Have you checked the TPS works the correct way .. ie 0-100 not 100 -0
I can’t remember 998 to 999 but I know the 999 is the opposite way to the 1198

  3. Did you swap 2 of the wires in the TPS plug?

  4. Ah... I didn't check or swap the two wires. I literally just extended the cables. If you've anymore info on which ones to swap, that would be great

  6. Legend! Thanks that’s amazing :):upyeah:

  7. As FE says if you do need to change it, and its only about the direction of rotation of the switch, ( you could probably see just by looking at which way the butterfly rotates comparing the two TBs, you only need to swap two of the wires...

  8. Fantastic. I'll check the 999 TB's rotation. Hopefully it'll be quite a simple fix

  9. Thanks again for the help Chaps.

So I finally got round to checking the 999 tb's rotation against the 998 set.

The 998 set. Both butterflys rotate to the left.

The 999 set. Top butterfly rotates to the right, bottom butterfly rotates the the left.

I'll have to take a closer look at the diagrams above to see it I can work out the correct wiring sequence etc.

  10. Look at it as rotation cw or ccw

  11. So in these 998 tbs knowing the cable sits at the front off side the TPS will rotate clockwise 0-100 EDAE76EB-E77F-4A01-8565-931625EFEA70.jpeg

  12. Whereas on a 1198 tbs it sits the other side so rotates anti clockwise 0-100

  13. Ah ok. Get it now thanks :)

  14. Not much to report of late. Been busy working from home and home schooling the kids, so not had too much time on the bike. I have however finished the hand controls. New Brembo lever for the MC and a new standard clutch lever have been fitted, along with a new Domino QA throttle and billet clipons. IMG_20200425_125135_225.jpg IMG_20200414_170641_635.jpg
I have finally deceied what I'll be doing with the ECU and loom etc. I have been speaking to someone who can unlock a 999 ECU, so I'll be able to run any 999 dash along with any ECU and key. I think this will be the best and easiest option for the 999 motor, eliminating dyno time etc, so it'll essentially be plug and play.

Got the bike out in the open a week or so back really happy with the progress so far.

  18. Battery box is on the left to use the 999 loom
You can cut down a 999 or 1098 battery box and mount it on the near side you can get a carbon 999 rs one and use that
Then mount the ecu above the battery box and the solenoid below then move the regulator to the right side

  19. Oh and you would still benefit from dyno time regardless
