You can also strip the 99@ loom of the insulation tape..eliminate the wires you don’t want and re route appropriately for your build

Had a 999 battery tray delivered from Kev Moose off the forum. Must say, great quality used item with very swift delivery. I'd like to see if I can run lights & indicators, so fitted the whole tray (helps having a 999 thermostat housing) Just waiting on some 28mm frame brackets to secure the top of the tray. If I cant run lights etc, I'll cut the 999 battery tray down, relocate the reg rec to the right of the bike and run a Corse water union inc pipe work and run the bike with a daytime MOT only. Had a new oil cooler delivered too. The cooler that came with the bike didn't fit and was cable tied to the mounting points. After closer inspection, the original cooler was from a KTM
Thanks for all the help Andy. Being my first engine swap project, it's all new to me and your guidance/advice has been great
Fitted the 999 oil cooler up today. And test fitted the left hand fairing and v piece. Got the old panels out and offered them up. The air scoop fouls the 999 battery tray, but not by much. I think 998 fairings, minus the air scoop will fit nicely. My Cat Desmo has been keeping a close eye, making sure it's done right lol
Offered all the fairings up and fitted the V piece. Had to space the V piece out at three points and trim the aperture. Its tight, but fits well.
I’d move the oil cooler back by making a new mounting bracket ... because Measure the rearmost part of the front tyre up at the same angle of the forks same travel of the forks what 120mm... make sure you don’t touch front wheel to v piece!
Lovely, thanks. I'll give that a try and see how it goes. I think you're right, the tyre will clear the cooler, but only just.
Get a couple of mates...hold onto the clip ons and take the fork tops out and lower the bike to the stops..
Can anyone help? Do I have to run the 999 stick coils with the 999 loom? Or can I use my existing coils? (As in the picture) I'm a little unsure about the connections etc.
The coil packs are more efficient and reliable .. race bijes of that era certainly used then ... for ease of use I’d go with the sticks with a fly lead✅
