Long Rides

  1. I posted this in another thread but perhaps it should have its own?

Whatever I get it will then be long rides. I've never been to Lands End of John O'Groats. That will have to be rectified and then Ireland! Oh, and Liverpool!

  2. Whytf Liverpool? Hoping for an insurance claim? ;)

Quite fancy the lands end thing myself too. Which route would you go? Via Wales, lakes, then on to Scotland?

  3. The Liverpool thing is random... mainly becuase I've never been.

Also came about because I don't want to motorway it too much. So, I would divert west of the motorway to do a bit of Wales. And then I thought, why not Liverpool? A bit random, I know.

  4. That is 672 miles for me - which is less than I thought.

  5. Nah that’s a balls way. Over the bridge, up the spine of wales to north wales then cut across at Chester and northwards. More entertaining and worth taking a long weekend to do it :upyeah:

  6. You’re not starting form lands end tho :bomb:

  7. You can take the ferry from Liverpool to Dublin!

  8. No, I'm not bothering. I plan one ride to Scotland, with another to do Lands End. Because I would almost pass my house if I was to do Lands End to John o'Groats in a go then I thought that I might as well take advantage of living in Gloucestershire!

  9. I could but I'd rather do Fishguard/Rosslare. I've got Ireland down to keep going west and then ride up an do NI. Then down the East side to return to Rosslare.

As someone who remembers seeing stuff about the "troubles" in NI every night on TV, I am quite interested in visiting NI. And I would quite like to do Belfast and the Titanic stuff. It would, if possible, to time it to fit in with some Irish Road Racing. I've done one in Southern Ireland before (Skerries) but it would be good to do one in NI.

  10. I may well do that. I don't wanna motorway it to Liverpool. May well do Wales to Liverpool.

Yes, I am not doing Lands End to John O'Groats, but I don't need to because IDGAF!

  11. I'd go up the west coast of Scotland, much more scenic. :eyes:

It'll add time and distance to your journey, but you might as well have the best experience you can.

  15. And John O Groats is a complete shite hole, visited once to cross it off the list and vow to never return.

  16. aye, you wouldnt drive all that way for the nightlife. or even the scenery in my view. some of the A9 after Tain is nice, it does get interesting after JOG tho along the north coast.

  17. I will investigate more. The route from Liverpool was just the "default" route using my Ride planner that came with my Tomtom. did. It doesn't have to be John o'Groats and keeping West suits me. I'll investigate. The furthest north that I've ever been on a bike is Scarborough for the Gold Cup races, and so I have much to learn.

  18. this is a route i recomend all the time. especially if you are coming via liverpool. head up the west coast. get to adrossan, ferry to arran, then the ferry to kintyre, up the west coast via oban, fortbill, inverness. around the NW500 then back again. theres a good 3days in that one.

  19. Get yourself fit mate and we’ll sort something :upyeah:

  20. Thanks, I will look into it. I've got time.
