The Non - Ducatis You Have Owned

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Robarano, May 4, 2020.

  1. After posting about the Ducati's that have been part of our lives (Ducatis You Have Owned), I was wondering what non Ducati bikes we've had. :bucktooth:

I'll leave the Scooters out of it.

    Shut up @Exige :no_mouth:

    I'll kick it off.

1st - GSXR1100M - H reg. Mint with about 900 miles on it when I bought it. Owned by the lead singer of the Toy Dolls originally. "Ooooooooooooooooo...Nellie the Elephant!" :) I had this before I passed my test. :innocent:

    GSXR3.jpg

2nd - RD350LC - Stan Stephens tuned. Bought from my Brother-in-law to pay towards his wedding. I owned this for a couple of years, which was slightly longer than his marriage to my sister.

    Scan 73.jpg

3rd - Fireblade RRW - Bought a Fireblade because of the legend. Didn't like it, seemed bland. Quality wasn't brilliant either which surprised me for a Honda.

    Fireblade 3.jpg

4th - MV Agusta F4 750 - Loved this bike and owned it for about 8 years. Sold when I just found it too uncomfortable to ride for a day out. It used to wreck my knees. :worried:

    IMG_0482_2.JPG

5th - Honda RVF400 - Bought to commute to work on and that's all I pretty much did on it for 18 months. Great little bike with a stonker engine.

    DSCF0418.jpg

    6th - RD350LC - Converted from a RD250LC. A dog, shouldn't have bought it and sold it shortly after.

    SL380057.JPG

7th - Aprilia Tuono Factory V2 - Brilliant bike and introduced me to superb Aprilia build quality. Sold because I wanted my 1098s and the dealers were rubbish at the time. A month wait for an accessory wasn't uncommon. :(

    P1000010crop.jpg

8th - GSXR1100M - Bought because I had fond memories of my 1st. Sold on a whim and regretted it ever since.

    GSXR_2.JPG

The next 3 I still have :upyeah:

9th - RD350LC - Matching numbers UK bike. A good one but not a pampered show bike as I wanted to use the thing.

    IMG_5402.JPG

10th - Aprilia Tuono V4 Factory - Bought in January - Ridden it once and an unbelievebale bike. My local dealer is a star and can get anything for me next day. :upyeah:

    IMG_8837.JPG

11th - Triumph Sprint ST ABS. Bought as a cheap tourer for Italy (fingers crossed). Looks good so far for an inexpensive bike. :upyeah:

  7. No pics, but I have owned a few. Started owning bikes at about 12, got a car at 18 and forgot bikes for a few years. Then back just after my lad was born as we needed two modes of transport and two cars weren’t affordable. IIRC something like this...

    Suzuki TS100
    Suzuki TS50 Mx bike
    RD125LC
    Suzuki GT550 triple

    ZXR 400
A couple of old ropey hondas like CBs
    1000 firebalde, underseat exhaust version
    R1200GS
    GSXR 1000 K6
    GSXR 750 K4
    R1250GS

    Still got the last two

  9. I like posts like this.

    1999

dad told me I had to ride a bike before I could drive so I bought a brand new Honda xlr125 for college and kept it 2 years rode it on my cbt before doing my test in 01

    View attachment 199752

    2001

after passing my test at 19 bought a 6 month old sv650 and had it restricted for a week. Only kept for 9 months as my dad called me from the local Honda dealer to convince me to buy a new bike.

    CD8898D8-26D6-4F44-A307-C04966E49D8F.jpeg

    2002

traded the Sv for a new cbr600f. Restricted again for only a week so I had the certificate. Kept it 2 years and did around 12000 miles including trips to Ireland.

    B4C42D30-6316-48DB-9C97-A5F8E893196F.jpeg

    2004

again my old man and his bad influence called me from triumph to tell me to go see the Daytona 600 that had just come out. Traded cbr then and there. Kept for 6 months as I managed to go through the rear tyre to the metal on a weekend on the north loop (nc500 now) chasing mates on thousands. Lost my arse on it but it had to go

    B700D624-2A30-419B-AB42-24C5DD94DCF7.jpeg

    2004

Traded the triumph in for a new gixer 750k4. The dealer actually managed to write the first one off on the Pdi so I waited another month for them to find a replacement as it wasn’t the common blue bike. Loved this bike and wish I kept it.

    E0357808-1303-4E09-9D1B-4605DDE3DB72.png

    2009

I had year with no bike having sold the last gixer when I was working away too much. I bought another 750 this time a k8. Kept a year as I had an off. Put it back together and traded it for my first 1000.

    0FE2EAD1-5649-488E-8DFF-56A7BEEB5C3D.png

    2010

Gixer 1000 k9 soon as I saw this bike I had to have it. Jumping on a thou was an eye opener. Kept this one for 3 years and did a trip to Austria on it and it was awesome in the alps.

    26EAD2C1-9F4C-4104-8351-D4CFC2397D9F.png

    2011

after the trip to Austria I knew we would do it again. As much as the gixer was great in the alps riding down there was crippling so I bought a new tiger 1050 purely for going to Austria again. Hateful bike kept it around a year and traded for a speed triple R

    006CFBFD-8CA7-409A-A49D-4DEC145EA0C0.png

    2012

traded the tiger in for a new speed triple R. Great bike took it to the Isle of Man was good fun over the mountain but as my first naked bike I wasn’t ready for the wind blast above 100 and so I was getting passed left and right. Sold it shortly after as again was working away a lot and 2 bikes was a bit much.

    A221EE07-7336-4A82-A98A-0D702574EF84.png

    2013

soon as I saw the millionth edition gixer I had to have one and my local dealer sent me first refusal on the only one they got. Traded the k9 for it. Should never of sold this one

    360E484D-3BC8-4846-90FD-00485C87FADB.png

    2016

I test rode the 2015 R1 when it came out and as soon as I saw the 60th anniversary one again had to have it. Was such a massive step up from all the thousands I’d had before. Kept the millionth also and got an R1.

    5AFE13B9-3741-4799-970F-8452CAF6A97D.jpeg

    2016

I was really enjoying the R1 and so when the mt10 was released I jumped at a cancelled order from my local dealer. Kept it for 2 years then sold it for the duc. Was a great bike toured Austria on it in 18 also.

    88F63A69-39B3-4334-A8FF-542E3B379B54.jpeg

    2017

having said I would keep the millionth I stupidly traded it for a new gixer 1000R. I really regret that as I could of easily kept it. In the winter of 2017 I had it painted 18 colours as I didn’t like the black.

    69A67ACD-D4D3-4DD8-B4CF-83E937298B9C.png

    2019

sold the mt10 as I had the corse coming and thought 3 bikes should be my limit. Then in November I saw a deal on the Thruxton R which was a bike I’d had a soft spot for since it came out so jumped at that. Delivered dec 19 and yet to turn a wheel.

And that brings us to the current line up. No intentions of selling anything. My dads friend always told me be a buyer not a seller so I’m going to follow that as long as I can afford to.

    0ACE661A-A8D8-4730-9B82-50C71D3D8906.jpeg

Obviously as this is non Ducati I’ve left them out but there have been some Ducati’s in there for sure and currently have a Panigale V2 and this..

I’m due to sell the Daytona providing all goes well, but I have another RGV to do up, I just don’t know if I can be bothered as I don’t really like the older model RGV. I’ll do it if I can do it and fit a tyga kit to it.

  15. thought you might mate, I know you are keen on a VJ23. It’s with a guy up near Dinnington now, he paid £8k for it!!!

I’ve got another ex race bike to do, to really rough and needs full engine rebuild but it’s £500 to get it bought, thing is it’s a stage 2 engine with sugaya kit ignition and pipes so has some good bits on and the frame is mint so can rebuild it as a mint tyga bike if I can be bothered.
