easy peasy just fit a pair of pilot road 3 unbelievable in the wet im a slowish rider in the wet at the best of times went out today totally amazed how much grip and confidence these tyres have(not the cheapest)but worth every penny,in the dry totally awesome nowt wrong with scorpions (standard)but these do feel really good, roll on our pending trip to austria, italy germany slovenia the list goes on
Your trip sounds like one I am going on on the 13th July this year with British Bike tours, any good?
+1 for PR3s. In comparison, the Scorpions are as much use a wooden cartwheel. PR3s turn the MTS into the bike Ducati meant it to be...
I'm in the unfortunate position of having to make do with the Pirellis for a trip to Northern Italy then The Black Forest this summer because I've been foolish enough to say I'll do the Stella Alpina on my MTS. Now I know that the idea of the Stella is that anyone can take a road bike up there but I've been up the Col de Sommeiller on a 250 KTM and it's not somewhere I'd want to go on an expensive bike shod in PR3s. No more Pirellis after I get back from the trip so it's not the end of the World
Another +1 PR3s. Had a bit of a wet trip up through Scotland on the May Bank holiday and they were so sure footed in the wet. That kept me relaxed and I still enjoyed the roads. Another advantage is long life. Mine are getting close to 5K miles, still have a decent profile and enough tread to do another trip into Europe next month.
I'll not be doing it if it's raining because it'll be like an ice rink but otherwise it'll be ok as long as I don't use some of the short cuts that cut down steeply between the hairpins. I might even take the bike out of sport mode for this part of the holiday. Last year there were a couple of Harleys right up by the snowline but the award for most stupid choice of bike had to go to a guy riding a V-Max who didn't look happy when he was showered with stones by someone on a 250EXC
