The Actual Rules-riding Our Bikes?

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Symon Moore, May 6, 2020.

  1. My issue seems to be that most car drivers are paying even less attention than usual out there

Just seems bizarre you’d think people would be in less of a hurry but all of a sudden less traffic - cars go faster - less time to see bikes

Plus there’s more wildlife roaming - I’m hoping to go out soon but I’ll be observing speed limits (other speed limits are available)

  2. There’s a greater risk whilst cycling into work these days...have you seen how many are on the road, most of them look like they haven’t been on a pushbike for years.

You're allowed essential travel to work, which mode of transport is irrelevant. I would think a blast out on a sunny Sunday morning will still be frowned upon.

  3. You don’t cancel an insurance policy because you didn’t need it in the first month of cover?

  4. Stick to B roads, and avoid usual biker haunts you will be fine ;);)
Apart from the swarms of cyclists. Why do they never look like they are enjoying themselves?

  5. Do you mean you don't abandon lockdown because the danger is superficially decreased? Otherwise I am not sure I get what you are driving at... (or not, if you're not driving because of lockdown).

  6. I'm still going to the Co Op using my only mode of transport...

    Screw the h8rz...

(stay home, stay safe, stay wild, stay free, love life, choose life, choose a 6 disc multichanger, choose a hat with a wide brim, choose choice, choose now...)

  7. I mean I wouldn’t dismantle the Nightingale and other temporary hospitals yet, just because they haven’t seen much use.
Plan for the worst whilst hoping for the best is a lot more sensible than a policy of blind optimism.

  8. Yep, thought that was the spirit of what you were saying... thanks.

    No argument here.

  9. i'm off to get some vegan cornflakes in a minute, taking motorbike as more eco-friendly than car and automatic PPE during shop visiting exposure.

  10. Don't go to Tesco... they had a go at me for keeping my hat on. Even when I flipped the front they still thought I was a criminal and told me I was intimidating.

  11. My wife also rides horses and like you I have discovered that per mile covered horse riders are very much more likely to be injured. Horses are just so unpredictable. Bloody great things weighing around half a tonne, scared shitless by a pheasant.

  12. Random brake, acceleration and steering systems make for an interesting experience.
I'd love to see someone try to MOT a horse, just to see what the failures were.

  13. it's a mini one, with no security (as such) and have done it once before at same shop. Like petrol stations, if they ask me to remove lid I will be off to find another ri.. shop.

  15. Noisy exhaust (Advisory )

  16. Not only that, the sudden noisy exhaust occasionally causes unplanned acceleration and steering.

  17. Upturned leaves, puddles, bin bags. It's a dangerous and threatening world out there for horses...

  18. We had one a few years ago that was incredibly chilled. Nothing bothered her at all ,wherever she went she just plodded along. My wife would ride and I used to take the bicycle and dogs and cycle along the bridleways and every time I turned round the horse was cantering along a foot or so behind, she absolutely loved it. We all did in fact . Our local pub is horse and dog friendly so we would stop there and sit in the garden to munch crisps & carrots. Lovely way to pass the time.
