I guess they want a big sponsor to follow him back! Phillip morris ? The Ball is very much in ducati's court!!!!
Masao Furusawa did say to rossi in 2010 call me if your in trouble! Estoril Honda said the door is still shut on rossi to get a factory ride............... Then straight after honda in the press room Yamaha stated the door was never closed on when he left. I reckon Masao Furusawa is involved in this ? 749er and TP will be partying for 48hrs if it happens! Lorenzo, as quoted commented on the rumours: "I wouldn't mind at all. I work for Yamaha, and if there was another fast rider on the machine, we could improve our overall chances of success." Responding to Lorenzo, and trying to calm the rumour-mill, Rossi said: “I’m very grateful to Lorenzo and in this difficult moment he’s the only rider who still respects me and I appreciate it, but it’s still too early to talk about next season, we still have to make the Ducati work, that is our goal.”
MUCH like his departure from Honda, Valentino Rossi seemingly ended his tenure at Yamaha with burnt bridges, but according to Yamaha's Lin Jarvis the door may not be closed to the Italian. The biggest rumour surrounding Rossi's return to Yamaha has the seven-time MotoGP champion leasing his own bikes in a satellite team sponsored by Coca Cola - who, as pointed out yesterday, appear to be interested in buying Monster Energy. "It's hard for me to say what happens, but I get the feeling that he has lost confidence in the bike," Jarvis told AS.com "Valentino is an extraordinary rider and understands how to improve and develop a motorcycle, but if you are unhappy with something you cannot perform at your best. "Continuing like this is not good for him or for Ducati, or the sport. I have not thought about him for next year. Yamaha already has two factory riders and two satellite riders. Tech 3 has two bikes for next year, so it’s not an easy situation. "His return is an interesting possibility? Especially for the press, I’m not closing the door, but it is not a realistic situation. What matters is that Valentino fulfills his agreement with Ducati. The season is very long and there is still time to make an informed decision." FAO 749er Valentino is an extraordinary rider and understands how to improve and develop a motorcycle, but if you are unhappy with something you cannot perform at your best.
Jarvis' quote, if true, is telling. Seems to be speaking volumes...."not good for him, Ducati or the sport"...artfully vague, but a ring of inevitability..Can't wait to see how this pans out!
I would love to see him on a Suzuki when they return next year as he would be able to start from scratch. They would never have the budget which is a shame as Suzuki once dominated. The biggest issue is how they are going to fix the GP format with the lack on teams/bikes/riders/investment as CRT is a bit of a joke. I just want to see some amazing races and im really sad that the Italian dream never really happened.
The words of lin jarvis about Rossi " understands how to improve and develop a motorcycle" puts more and more pressure on Ducati engineers!! To the extent that Audi will sack them imho. I did say over a year ago that Ducati would get the blame! Like VR Lin jarvis will spin this up so he can get massive sponsorship next year which yamaha have missed in the last year and this. no wonder lorenzo will welcome VR, He may get a big pay rise as his contract ends this year
his record speaks for itself. But feel free to remind us. Anyway, you mentioned Philip Morris sponsorship above but before on another thread you said Yahama already had more money than Ducati. I'm confused. Please help this stupid soul. VR says it is 80% rider and 20% bike. I am sure goat will be fine. Lastly, thank you for the Jarvis quote. Should I find myself under pressure at work through not performing, I will tell my boss I am not happy. Job saved.
If I were in charge at Suzuki (or Kwak, Aprilia, BMW etc) I wouldn't waste anything on MotoGP whilst it is being made farcical by the use of a tyre that requires the bike chassis to be so stiff to force the tyre to move around that it then provides no feedback to the rider - until it's too late; you simply have to take your brain out and trust that the tyre will grip...... hence newer riders with that mentality are prospering. The idea of 'prototype' racing is to develop new ideas for use on road machinery (which is why F1 has become farcical ... another/story/day) but restricting tyres, especially to something which only works if the bike chassis doesn't, is killing any thinking outside the box - Right now in MotoGP you either make a rock-solid soulless chassis (that is useless as a basis for a road bike!!!), or you can't compete. Don't know about you but I wont be buying anything developed from that 'technology' for use on the road..... and I'd guarantee if Duc could use a different tyre then they wouldn't be having the problems they are.........
Imagine the carnage - chassis' with no feedback and 200hp coming in like an 'on/off' switch
100% agree Littlebert. The tyre rule needs to go. Back to several suppliers and no overnight fly in specials
Rossi's head is elsewhere these days it seems to me. Yamaha wont have him back, they will sack Spies if his current form continues, hire crutchlow. BUt cal needs to keep his form going and not take anyone out. Him and bradel are a little "loose" to say the least. I reckon these are mind games by Lorenzo... Even HRC said there is no room for him there now or in the future. Rumours rife re Stoners retirement from racing.....maybe in next couple of yrs (?).
Derek, If your under performing go on the sick for 3 months with some rare form of disorder  I'm sure your boss will understand
Won't work. I only get 30 days sick pay. Has VR had the blues that long? Marlboro wanted to fire Stoner after being off for 4 weeks Marlboro Boss - "Stoner Should Apologize" | MotoMatters.com | Kropotkin Thinks Yet another example of why Rossi is better than Stoner
