I’ve seen a couple of Troy Bayliss (not Corser! - sorry for typo in heading) 998s reps here for sale in NZ. Apart from the graphics are there any differences from a standard 998s? Also - any idea of how much there are currently worth?
Are you sure it’s corser and not Bayliss? They are going for stupid money now. Recently seen them for sale at anything between £14K to £20K.
Bayliss reps are standard 998S spec* plus Ohlins front forks. They should also have a Bayliss signature and a plaque; only 300 released, sold via the internet only. You should be able to edit your own thread title. *Be aware that if the bike was originally a US bought one it would have the lesser powered 123Bhp engine of the non-S variants, but have carbon fibre body work.
400 released I think. And they have upgraded brakes too - Brembo 4 pot. More info here - 300 originally planned but I think 400 in the end. https://www.roadracingworld.com/news/ducatis-new-bayliss-bostrom-and-monster-620-models/
T The link seems to suggest that the non-US bikes have the same engine as the 996R rather than a standard 998s engine. So is it much different from the 996R then?
I think the non sandcast cased engines are slightly below the 996R spec. The sandcast 998S cased engines have the full 996R internals. Might be wrong though...
998S has the 996R engine inc Ti rods iirc, makes 134hp. 998 engine has different cams & internals, not deep sump and makes 123hp. US version of the 998S had the standard 998 engine as the 996R engine wasn’t permitted in the US. Ive been doing research. I read a lot.
We covered this pretty comprehensively in the Ebay thread not long ago - same part number for the Titanium conrods on loads of bikes including the 998S Bikes that share the same titanium conrods (Edited to remove 1098) 1998-02 Ducati 748 R 1998-99 Ducati 748 SPS 2004-06 Ducati 749 R 1997-98 Ducati 916 SPS 1999 Ducati 996 R 2001 Ducati 996 R 2001 Ducati 996 S 1999-00 Ducati 996 SPS 2002 Ducati 998 R 2002 Ducati 998 S Bayliss 2002 Ducati 998 S Bostrom 2004 Ducati 998 S FE 2003-06 Ducati 999 R 2006 Ducati 999 R Xerox 2003-06 Ducati 999 S 2007 Ducati 999 S AMA Replica
Yep all the Ltd edition stuff ti rods in theory ... but 998s nope ..steel rods! And the 03-06 999s had steel rods too!
But the 998S has the complete 996R engine and on the parts lists put up by @LiveFast...... above the con rods for the two are the same part number.
