Jeez, that sucks... I have lost a couple of acquaintances the same way and it is always a shock. And not usually the people who you would think... Anyway, here is what I did today.
Exactly that, before lockdown we were on the phone sorting a work issue out, when like very often we would go off topic and chat about anything, it’s come as a real blow, he was such a nice calm and polite man. Maybe not so much for those who really were close to him, but for a lot of folk it’s been a total shock.
Nobody really ever knows what's happening inside someone else's world ! Lost my best buddy in 2010 to the reccesion he just couldn't cope ! Monster of a bloke tough as nails and the life and soul of the party ! You just never know !
As Skitz says, we never know what lies beneath. Most of us have a public persona which is different for acquaintances than very close family and both of those are different again to what’s truly going on inside someone’s head. Unfortunately mental health issues are still not regarded by many as a serious issue, especially amongst men with an average age akin to this forum’s inhabitants. It’s always ‘pull yourself together man and get over it’. It’s really sad when something extreme like this happens, really sad. The person always thinks everyone else will be better off without them when in fact the exact opposite is true. I feel for you and his family.
Well that's 45 minutes I won't get back. Deep in the workshop I heard a thunderous noise of what I thought was a airliner in trouble. Legging it out into the yard I just caught the tail end of the very low profile of a huge plane, off course with loads of coloured smoke coming at of it's arse. Thoughts of this And this raced through my imagination..... no sirens.... no news..... It later transpired It was this lot Note they were low and travelled South of my location, so I didn't see any Blue Smoke, just red mixed with white... I thought it might be un-burnt fuel.
Yeah, hopefully it wont be as miserable as last winter. We had 2 frosts! Two! I had to put on a jumper! Seriously tho, winter is often the best time of the year to be building, not too hot and we have some beautiful sunny days. Just less daylight is a pisser...
What did HMRC do? I've paid the VAT... I don't want any debts building to next Easter..... just want to forget these last few weeks.
Got a TTX 36 MkII on the rear - makes the front feel wooden but - since before that....i could never get it quite right....did years ago (when the old shock was on there) but never since...plus for the cost difference (selling my old ones) 400 quid for a fork upgrade to me is good value plus i get to experience an upgraded fork....
300 quid incoming VAT on the forks....my amazing deal is not so amazing but with beer goggles on....i got a set of nix30's...
The wife ordered a solar fountain from Ebay last week - eleven quid, and wanted me to create a water feature in the garden for it. So today, I got stuck in, and after a few hours hard work, here is the result:
I’m sat in the garden. Beer in hand. Dogs playing on lawn. Red kites performing acrobatics overhead. Sunny. Looking forward to a 6:00 video call with my mum and dad and my three brothers and their families as we toast the hero’s of yesterday. Cheers.
