I Like What Mv Augusta Have Done...

  1. Apparently in the UK (not sure if this is world wide) MV have increased the warranty period on their bikes for another three months, this includes all bikes still under warranty.
They feel that as there is a lockdown and owners are generally unable to use their bikes it's unfair that a significant part of the warrenty is wasted.

Wonder if Ducati will do the same?

  3. I've emailed Ducati, lets see what they say..

  4. MV Agusta* :p replaced my sprag foc out of warranty including labour

new bikes have 3 years warranty

they’ve been brilliant since the last Russian take over ;) such a shame everyone slags them off / bit like Ducati 10 years ago

looking forward to the new triple in a couple of years :)

  5. That'll be interesting, especially as Ducati's official line and marketing was to not ride during the lockdown:thinkingface:

  6. Spags on MVs are a known common issue and tend to be replaced out of warranty if you have a decent dealer that has a good rapport with the factory.

They weren't interested in replacing my failed clutch switch on my Turismo 2 months outside of the then 2 year warranty despite full dealer history over 18,000 miles.

Fantastic bike when good but cost cutting on electrical components did it for me with three failures on one tour.

  7. Ive had a phone call from Italy. They are looking into to it and will get back to me. They wanted to know the bike and the dealer.

  8. Watching this with interest.

  9. What a great idea. Big up to MV for taking the lead. Let's see if Ducati follow suit.

  10. I think Ducati are looking to do this, released as a service bulletin to dealers. I have an open complaint with Ducati and they mentioned it as part of that

  11. Hopefully will also apply to the EverRed extensions to the factory warranties too...

  12. What’s Italian for “on your (broken) bike”?

  13. KaaToooM did this a couple of weeks back.

  14. I had this reply. I dont think they get the message that my bike will have had effectively three months less warranty.
But at least they bothered to respond. Perhaps next bike might just be an MV?

As far as your request is concerned, I communicate you that Ducati has foreseen a warranty extension only for those customers, whose warranty's expiry date falls between the 1st of March 2020 and the 30th of May 2020. Because of the fact that your bike's warranty is going to expire in March 2021, I am sorry to inform you that, unfortunately, no warranty extension is foreseen for your specific case.

    What MV have put out.
    3 MONTH EXTENDED WARRANTY
Hey, MV Agusta owner! We have a special message for you!
If you have an active warranty as of 30/04/2020, you will receive an additional3 months of warranty as compensation for the unforeseen lockdowns enforced in almost every country caused by the COVID-19 emergency.

A special offer to make up for the time you were unable to enjoy your premium Italian bike made in Schiranna.

During this idle times, MV Agusta would like to show appreciation to our loyal customers for standing by us.

Valid in all countries without any restrictions.

However, I would suggest you to turn to your trusted Duacti dealer for any doubts and necessities concerning your bike's warranty. Our official dealers are indeed updated by the Ducati parent company about the latest news, in order to give Ducati customers a professional and adequate support."

  15. Do you have a link by any chance.

  16. I kind of see where Ducati are coming from and I'm not sure that MV's is as all encompassing as it may seem. Let me pose this question.

In the event I had an MV and the warranty expired on 1st April, about two weeks after the lockdown started, would my warranty be extended by MV?

It wasn't an active warranty on 30th April, yet I've not been able to use the bike.

Assume I can now use it and something blows up, will MV cover it?

I can see where Ducati are coming from, ie if your warranty was to expire during the period of enforced unuse then we will extend it by 3 months. If however, it wasn't you haven't lost anything as anything that may go wrong could still go wrong under the remaining unexpired period of the warranty.

I'm assuming they have to be careful so as not to open a floodgate of warranty extension claims along the lines of "I only use my bike for 6 months of the year so can I spread my 3 year warranty over 6 years please?".

I'm just trying to see things from both sides of the fence here.

  17. I'll try and dig it out it was on a KTM fb page

  18. New MVs have 3 year warranty - I thjbj they’ve extended all bikes in warranty by 3 months

having said that I was well out of warranty & they replaced sprag including labour foc without any hassle or quibbling

the new owners are really keen to give better customer service - they announced the extension in April

so long as you’re not taking the piss I’m pretty sure they’d honour any issues

  19. All very quiet here - I can't be the only lucky one to have warranty ending in the 1Mar-30May slot. Anyway, email today from Ducati telling me I've got 3 months extension & any software updates too. Lucky me :)
