I don't know if anyone out there can help...... My Monster 696 (2010) ABS has had a total ecu failure. I have been told that it will cost approx £1,000 for a new ecu (plus labour!!). There are no alternatives showing up on fleabay .... Does anyone have an alternative suggestion to the very costly Ducati branded replacement ecu? I have the part number: 28641791A :frown:
Have been down that road .... Snell's have spent past two weeks trying to get Ducati UK to agree to goodwill replacement .... answer was "NO" :frown:
The cheapest way would be to source one off eBay. The Siemens M3C fitted to the M696 is uncoded so they can be swapped between bikes. Had a quick look and the only ABS ones on eBay are in the USA and are US spec. A call to Jim Redmond at Bike Enders may source you one 01708 455530.
Avanti is a company, I didn't know Antonye was from there! My ECU on my 749 went bananas and they fixed it for a relatively small fee
If you get no joy anywhere let me know. I'm no Ducati ECU specialist but i've fixed a few Magneti Marelli units in the past, and am an ECU test, fault find and repairer for Rolls Royce jet engines for a living so know my way round a multi meter. I can be a bit slow though cos i do this sort of thing as a favour rather than paid work but if all else fails i'm here.
Many thanks indeed ...... I am having a second try (myself, rather than via dealer who were told 'no'), to get D.UK to play nice. Letter written... sale of goods act being quoted.....
There is an alternative route too. If you could find one at a dealers and take it for a test ride, where upon it just might happen to, erm... breakdown.
Thanks a lot .... saw that part, but it is not "696 + ABS" - and both Avanti & Snell's tell me that it needs to be the right basic part before it can be re-flashed - i.e. needs to have been manufactured for ABS.
UPDATE Thank you to everyone on this thread who has been kind enough to offer advice and help. I have heard from Ducati UK today that they are agreeing to replace my ecu "as a gesture of goodwill". I much appreciate the advice and help from all.
