I think the terms remap and reflash get confused.. for those that are un clear a reflash is when new firmware (slip on, full system, or standard spec) is uploaded into the ECU changing the spec to Ducati Performance Full System or whatever a remap is when the ECU is mapped to your bike, the air fuel ratio tables are changed to match the requirements of your bike and as said each bike is slightly different however DUCATIs are VERY different unlike Jap bikes that can be very alike! Also as said a remap on a Ducati will often involve each cylinder being mapped as they have individual requirements, to my knowledge there are only two people in the UK that map Ducati ECUs directly, the other way is by means of a piggy back unit like a power commander or an aftermarket ECU like Nemisis.. advantage of a Power commander is many dyno centres can map them unlike those who remap the Ducati ECU, if you have a standard ECU and slip on cans you can have your ECU reflashed to DP spec then mapped for your bike. The remap of the Ducati ECU offers the tuner MANY features like infinite number of throttle positions any number of RPM breaks, ignition timing mapping and much more, way more than a PCV..

Hi Arthur can u tell us of the 2 places you know that remap the ducati ecu. I think a friend of my brothers had this done somewhere near Preston I will try and find out if he remapped it or used a power commander
Getting a custom dyno tune/map is well worth it IME. It's not so much the chasing of numbers, but more about smoothing out the power delivery and getting rid of any flat spots either low down or in the mid range. Can make a huge difference in the responsiveness and rideability of the bike.
CJS Motorapido Think Dave Woods may be doing them?? BSD Peterborough?? Dont know if Motocorse are fully mapping or using nemesis and mapping those Thuk a few more are now its becoming more widely used across many brands, so investment in the tech and software worthwhile if you are doing a fair number of dyno's
Motorcorse use the dynojet 250i for the dynometer function. Tony fully maps each cylinder individualy with whatever ECU interrupt system is on the bike, powercommander, Nemesis, bazaz (shit american poor copy of powercommander) etc.

As I say CJS and one other known to me are the only people who map the Ducati ECU, welcome screens and reflash are easy done by Ducatidiag, mapping them is TOTALLY another matter! PC3 and PCV have two fuel tables for each cyclinder, most exhaust systems have two probe points for the dyno opp to map each cylinder producing fuel tables for each, that's the advantage of power commanders most dyno centres can interface with it and understand the mapping process unlike the Ducati ECU which is complex and hard to understand as the ECUs data is in raw code! Id like think most of the bigger Ducati workshops like JHP can remap the ECU I know MR, DW etc don't
Your right Arthur. I would be tempted to get a reflash myself but the cost is prohibitive when you are doing engine mods constantly. with a PC/nemesis the motor can be interagated at most race meetings and numerous other dyno centers. Chris (CJS) needs to bring his prices down to match those of a remap (175 -200) for it to be worthwhile as a starting point. The cost of a pc and a remap is to a full ecu reflash by the two places that do it in the uk, but once you have a PC it's a damn site cheaper if you want to make any changes via a dyno.
