  3. 749er, how did you rate the Tiger 1050, handling, weight, performance etc? I'm considering one for general use.

  4. It is quite heavy and very tall. I bought it to go touring with my girl friend.

Our most memorable trip was from where we lived in South Lanarkshire, up the west coast to Mallaig. When we got to Mallaig we went up the driveway of where we thought the BnB was. Very steep climbs and when we got to the top the ground was slipping away where I tried to put my foot down. So very slowly, went over with full luggage. It was hard work picking it back up. I am 5ft 10.

Not too much damage done. End of the front brake lever snapped and a bit of glue fixed the indicator lens back on. The people who owned the hose came out and started telling me about John McPhee and how he had left Mallaig to go and race in the Spanish championship.

next day we road to Ullapool and along the north coast to Tongue and back to Ullapool. Ride up I was a bit ropey, the ride back everything was really gelling well.

next day headed East to Inverness then picked up the road that takes you past The Lecht ski resort. Again, the bike was fantastic, even two up with luggage. Absolutely cracking on through the corners. Got a bit further south and care to a set of traffic lights which controlled traffic across a single lane bridge. 5 of 6 guys on 1000cc nakeds came buy as the light was going amber, it was perfect timing by them. But I thought to myself that they were making a bit of an assumption. The sixth guy could not pass me and I kept up with the 5 in front. They were shocked when I pulled up beside with seconds of arriving at the next set of lights some 20 or 30 miles down the road.

so you can really enjoy the twisties with them. A multistrada will be a much quicker bike though. I sold it because I wanted something that had a bit more shove to pass cars more easily and to get something with a lower seat. Considered the multistrada as it ticked both boxes. Instead bought the K1300S which was more powerful again. Fantastic bike. 186BHP, loads of torque in every gear. On a trip to Germany we did over 155mph on the Autobhan, 2 up, no luggage. She was absolutely fine, no wind blast.

    I also tried the following

ZZR1400 and Hyabusa- too sporty a riding position
Blackbird - more comfortable than the two above but not as comfy as the K1300 and with none of the rider aids like electronic suspension, ABS, tyre monitoring.

Tiger 1050 - heavy, ok grunt, great handling, high seat.

K1300, easier to manoeuvre- weight is low down, faster, better handling again, low seat

the day after the drop. Broken lever and scuffed pannier

  5. Thanks for that 749er, being heavy and having a high seat is the bug-bear for me, I'll see if I can get a sit on one at a dealers once this lockdown is lifted.

  6. You could try selling ya arsehole for a while ;)

  7. multistrada has a much lower seat

  8. I'd sell my soul before my backdoor

  9. A 916 style Honda :joy: do you realise what you just said :p you do know all the major design attributes of the 916 were openly and admittedly copied from a Honda don't you

  10. You could go buy a Honda NR 750 at £62k if you are feeling flush, but the SP1 would be cheaper.

I think the NR750 looks quite like a Paso anyway?

  11. Which looks like a Ducati Paso (In my opinion).

  12. Beg to disagree. The largely horizontal lines of the tank are completely at odds with the kicked up 916 tail. It’s a ghastly, pointless abomination :D
