Is there any way of finding out how mch your bike weighs using a method at home. I have shed loads of weight and want to know how much it weighs now , and not by taking the manufacturers supposed guesstimate, I want actual weight, and I dont want to find my nearest weightstation.
Get 2 sets of bathroom scales, 1 under each wheel and add the two values together. You can use just one set and move it from end to end but it's not quite as accurate.
Had thought of that , need to find (nab) two sets as we don't have any at home. will that work , are the scales able to take it , anybody tried it .
Cant see why scales wouldn't work, it's not going to be that heavy... Brake test rollers at an MOT station should you have a friendly MOTer
The same principle is used at BSB using load cells. The scales should be capable of at least 100kg Expect an error of 1-2 kg as it is difficult to hold the bike steady.
I weigh 12 stone and just tried standing feet wide apart on two bathroom scales...............It appears I am now clinically obese as adding the two together I am now 20 stone or so. AL
If you use this method remember - Bathroom scales are not the most accurate especially at the high end of the scale. Mine at home constantly over read (in my opinion though my wife agrees with the scales!!) If you use one set then chock the other wheel with a piece of wood to bring the bike back to level. The bike must be held vertical each time. Dont try it on the carpet in the garage - hard surface. Try to get the tyre contact patch as central on the scale as possible and in the same place for both measurements. Do this at least a couple of times each end to get an average. Alternitavely if your close to a race track just about all have a scale in the scrutineering bay. Have fun
I went to brandshatch as they have a weigh bridge in the last garage, my 848evo out of the box was 191kg
Well at school i was told the weight of an object is equal to the weight of the water it displaces, so... have you got a big bath?
At my next hill limb there will be karts competing and they have scales to weigh them , but they are weighed using 4 pads , plus them pricks (the club) would probably be funny about me trying to weigh a bike on em
