  3. Well I take the KTM out for the shopping just as an excuse to fire it up. I'm from Ammanford; you?

  7. Welcome, used to work in S Wales (Blackwell) Fabulous roads apart from the speed cameras. Never ridden the 999 as couldn’t handle the odd looks but it’s a great bike apparently. Personally I think the 1098 is a thing of beauty & I loved riding it around your neck of the woods. Sure you’ll not be disappointed whichever way you go.

  8. I'm in Neath Richard.

  9. bore da Butty, from the Fera.

  11. Thanks Symon. Forgive me for asking, but what height and weight are you? I'm trying to figure out how comfortable a 1098 would be for me.Incidentally, which model 1098 do you have?

  12. :upyeah:

  13. Thanks for the welcome.

  15. I’m 5’11 & pushing 15st at the moment! Mine’s the 1098S & apart from the fairings & the slipper clutch, it’s stock. I’d been away from bikes for 9yrs when I bought it & was worried about the rideability of it, particularly at 50 yrs old but it’s been great & is surprisingly comfortable imo. It’s terrible at low speed thru towns & you’re constantly riding the clutch because it just isn’t happy there but on the open road it more than makes up for it. Feels like a real riders bike & although I’m sure I don’t use it properly, I love it. I always found the 999 odd; the width, the fairing design & the single dial instruments look weird to me whereas the 1098 just looks right but if that works for you, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed either way.

  16. Ok, I'm a little taller and about the same weight so that's reassuring. Funny, the very things that you mention regarding the 999 are the ones that appeal to me :grinning: The answer of course is to try both but that's a little difficult as they're both not current production bikes, nevertheless, I'm sure I would enjoy both.

  17. The resurgence of the Welsh language is a wonderful thing. I don’t have it either as although my Grandfather was first language Welsh and my Father spoke a little, it wasn’t heard in Ebbw Vale in the 70s, except for some dodgy political types being rude to everyone.

  18. i bloody love it isn't it. I am to old to bother learning it but pick up the odd word now and again.

  19. My wifes mum and dad live in merthyr tydfil, (her dad's welsh) love going up there to see them, great roads.
Her dad does a lot of trials riding and road riding, great to have local knowledge of the best roads and BURGER VANS!!!! :upyeah:;):punch:

  20. No it's not gibberish, it's well written and translated except for the last sentence "blame Google yw hwn" should read "bai google yw hwn" - (this is Google's fault). :upyeah:
