Hi all If you, like me, think Touring mode gives best of both worlds. Think again. Have been using Touring on group rides on twistys. Generally ok, keeping up, not ramming into ppl's backs etc. Always felt old Multi's Sport mode too stop-start for twistys. Did the same on today's rideout. Getting bit bored behind the 1200 GS LC. But then had to head back. Morning ride too sedate so had to "make up" time. So back on the twistys on my own. Sport mode. Wow, totally blew me away. On straiights, engine revs so readily that was almost short shifting. 4th gear around bends. Loads of drive, but super smooth. I don't know what they've done, but its great. The Skyhook was spot on. Brakes crisp. Engine and roar of Termis, incomparable. I felt more in control than in Touring mode. Planted, yet responsive. I was easily 20% faster than on Touring mode. But feels slower. Like my old 848, it really likes to be run hard. Sure, the Skyhook can sort out the damping, but the chassis really likes to be tensioned up. So if you've not used Sport mode much. Give it a go. O, and fuel economy didn't really suffer as I was smoother overall. Touring will now be relegated to Motorway cruising...
Well, was busy making progress. Didn't notice any buffeting. As for moving head to side, you will have to ride like Marc Marquez to have an issue. So yea, screen sorted!
Good report on the '13 Sport mode. I concur that on my 2011/2012 PP Sport mode can be neck-snapping' if you are not prepared. It's mental though. It'll also destroy your elbow/s if you suffer a bit of Tennis elbow like I do. Ah, the price we pay for a brilliant bike
Brilliant bike wasn't a pun. I'm fair dinkum. It's the most outstanding machine I've ever owned/ridden. Makes a mockery of every other bike ive ridden; either mine or borrowed mates bikes. Since 1976. The point I was trying to make about the tennis elbow & Sports mode was its beautifully ferocious. We have no Giraffe's in Australia. We shot 'em, ate 'em. That's what we do. Same as Kangaroos.
Ok El Toro. You were being ironic. We get it. But what is the purpose of posting the same thing over and over again on different threads. With the interest in the Kevin Ash saga, I actually peeked into other bike forums. Triumphs, BMWs etc. And guess what, they have their issues and whingers as well. the MTS is the best selling bike Ducati ever had. I think annual sales were over 10k or something. Their production capacity was caught out. Like many MTS owners, I've actually ignored this forum because I was too busy riding my MTS. Only came back because I was getting a new one and needed something to satiate my yearning. (ok, it was a week to get the bike, then another 2 more to get the full Termis etc. Still...) I'm saddened to see so much negativity, being over represented. You had a dud, fine. It happens. Remember the Toyota recall not so long ago? What matters more, is the dealer support. And tbh, a lot of it sounds like bad dealers not dealing with the problem. As a small manufacturer, it is inevitable. So shop aroDound. And complain to Ducati UK and Ducati HQ. Do I whinge? Of course I do! I whinge about the ice and snow which means I would need rinse off the salt every day. I whinge about rain because drivers start slamming their brakes. I whinge about my stupidity in riding overnight from London to Newcastle, on the dark and oily A1, after a full day's work and gym session; just because I've got a Multi. But you know what, throught out it all, rain or sun, snow or grease, my trusty Multi's with me. Even when I all I wanted to do was to lie down on the roadside for a kip; when my PR3s were worn to nothing and I was sliding past those tankers on the A1. So dun anybody dare insult the memory of my MY2010. Dam, brings a tear to my eye reminiscing about my old bike and what we went through together. Need to get on the MY2013 to get over it. See ya later...
We don't shoot all our Kangaroos Matt, some we train to deliver the mail....oops..wrong site, that's the US site I usually tell that tale to
