Having had my GranTurismo 1200 (2014 model) since January, I only managed to get in some decent miles in this weekend. Around x 250. And of course, I ended up like John Wayne for about an hour after the ride!! Having researched seats, it's clear what's needed. Would this puppy do the trick?........ as there's lots of options out there & I'm to tight to splash out on a brand new Touratech jobby. https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/1839671601...OjWssKj-JQw9X8o0fBNm5KUOJuHzy2KRoCvNoQAvD_BwE
Thought touring seat was bit better than standard. On a good tour i use one of the pocketed inflatable seat covers. With minimal pressure it really cossets the pressure points.
I had the upgraded version on my 11 plate. Head and shoulders better (for me) than the standard seat. My mate still has my old Mut, with same seat. Still loves it.. just make sure it’s the upgrade, comfort seat version.
I had the same problem. Uncomfortable. I solved it to my satisfaction by fitting the raised seat spacer at the front whilst sawing off the spacer lugs from the plastic side strips at the back, thus lowering the rear. Then fit the lowered seat strip to the pillion seat. It all worked out rather well. I have since done over 27,000 miles on it with many days over 400 miles with no butt or ball problems. The plastic spacer strips are only about £12 so if you try but don't like it won't break the bank. If you modify as above they'll be a gap between the front of the seat and the rear of the tank. I didn't mind as my nether regions don't have eyes (or maybe just the one) but received comments from those that thought it unsightly. I solved that issue with some sealer strip for car doors, easily available from ebay.
Wow, now that's thought provoking. May I ask "plastic spacer strips" where on eBay would you find these?
I thought I read in the press blurb that the GT came with, amongst other things, a comfort seat over the standard one? Is comfort and touring the same thing? Careful you don’t buy the seat you’ve already got?
The spacer aren't from ebay, they are the Ducati ones that come with the bike for a high seat or low seat option. As I said they only cost about £12 to buy new from Ducati if you hacksawer's remorse and want to revert. Rather crudely cut off lugs but effective. What I bought from ebay was some sticky-back car door rubber seal to fill the resultant gap at the front of the seat. (not shown in these photos)
I have a 13 GT. The GT comes with the Touring/Comfort seat as standard. No seat adjustment prior to the DVT model unfortunately. I found the standard seat on my 10 Multistrada 1200s Sport to be comfier than the GT seat strangely enough. Its grand when you get used to it though
I’ve tried all the seats ,Sargent ,Corbin The touring comfort seat and a touratech ,and the one that worked best for me was the touratech seat.. I have a set Sargent seats low for sale ..
I have a Ducati comfort seat and agree no better than standard, one hour and painful. I am considering Sargent so really interested to know why you did not get on with it? also what is better on touratech seat? Cheers.
We’re all different and a good seat for one is a bad seat for another ,I’ve bought seats that seem to have good reviews and to me they are not much better than the stock definitely not all day comfortable ,id try a cheap secon hand one first too see it it is good for you or better still get a custom built seat..
On my fugeley, I was fortunate to get a dp comfort seat shortly after it's purchase and it was a bit better, not custom seat better, but better. If you intend to keep it quite a while then like a suspension set just for you (quite cheap surprisingly), a seat made just for your uses makes sense. In the scheme of things a rebuild and recover is money well spent. A point That stood out Nick on your first post Having had my GranTurismo 1200 (2014 model) since January, I only managed to get in some decent miles in this weekend. Around x 250. And of course, I ended up like John Wayne for about an hour after the ride!! I suspect an awful lot of people who haven't been out on their bikes with the winter then covid, are going to find their bikes uncomfortable and will be doing John wayne impressions after their first rides
Hi DucatiStu, may I enquire what year MTS does your Sargent seat fit and is it just for the rider? Cheers.
2016 DVT. It's for rider and passenger. Had to send off the original seat to Sargent and they re model and recover and return.
