Perhaps it is time to remove the negative emojis from the forum? Overly sensitive types may complain when a dislike or other appropriate maker is placed against their post. As is the way of the world, competition and other free expression is giving way to a more liberal way of communication without fear of criticism or ridicule. Would the forum be a better place without.....? Thumbs down dislike Crazy faced WTF Hand across the face "face palm" The crown of the "drama queen" Red cross disagree The "poo" And of course the "Nuke." Perhaps the "lock thread" should remain to hide spam... or is that the Nuke.... I can't remember Any thoughts?
Replace Emojis with a strictly scoring system instead... eg O1-10.... Mind you’d get a perfect 10 From me @AirCon Every time .. X
Mmmmn and I guess some DFM’s would use a scoring system to show how many Ducati’s they own ,. Enter...@Exige .. X
Whether you deleted some emojis that might offend, people will resort to distasteful measures of wording instead.
Some people may try to talk a 10 to an 11! And what is a reasonable number...? Men should really stop collecting motorcycles at fifty....... Fifty is enough.
I thought the emojis were there for when you couldn’t argue a point or your point had been proven to be bollox.. the default was then to hide behind a emoji?
There should be help for OAP emoji users too.. I suffer with fat finger syndrome and I’m always in Mortal danger of selecting an inappropriate emoji For the occasion ... X
IMO Emojis should stay as is but we do need more, like a puke emoji. Emojis are there for people to signal their reaction to a post regardless of whether they wish to continue debating a point or not. As to Pete’s point above, some people already do use distasteful wording and/or personal insults, we should all learn to ignore that. If there are people who are complaining when having been given a negative rating they should a) grow up and stop being an overly sensitive nancy snowflake (cue the poo, nuke, disagree, dislike etc emojis to that comment alone), and, b) ask themselves before they complain, ‘have I ever dished out a -ve emoji?’ Those in glass houses etc... Emojis should not IMO be constantly used to wind up other members as per the various ‘nuke wars’. ps. The lock thread emoji does sweet FA. There endeth my thoughts on the subject.
Emojis are fine, in fact we really need to be able to use a wider variety not less imo People are free to use them or not, be offended or not, good old fashion choices.
On touch screen tablets, the current layout of emoji buttons makes it easy to inadvertently rate posts whilst scrolling down a long thread.
Is there an app? I never knew. @Edge_of_Town yeah we’ve all done that I’m sure but if the emojis were moved to the left hand side so as to avoid the issue you raise it’d just p**s of those who are left handed. I guess we have to be mindful or use the ‘undo rating’ function, no great hardship really.
It may not be unique to the Ducatiforum.... I remember ages ago it made using forums easier on a phone... I think @Ducbird uses it.
