Q: Is anyone considering a late 2020 holiday or perhaps already booked/looking at a 2021 break. We've found it's very hard to find any hotels or airlines to book with. Guernsey will open up shortly (my family home) and we are considering a late summer break. Found accommodation, but getting there is difficult unless I charter my own boat. Thoughts on your plans?
I’m not too far from Gatwick so probably will just nick a plane. Let me know when your going and I’ll drop you off en-route.
The hotel in Barcelona we were going to in a fortnight, finally compromised on its zero refund policy so I have booked a 5 night/4 day weekend at the end of January 2021. EasyJet are still arsing around and yet to cancel the flights, which they will have to as Spain is still not allowing non essential travellers into the country. I’ll try and book flights in a couple of months time, hoping that the current UK politics doesn’t tick the whole of Europe off to the extent they effectively shut us out. If things ease up by October, we might try a city weekend break. Andy
People who are re-booking cancelled holidays with Virgin Holidays and Atlantic are finding next years prices are up to 80% more expensive, no one has improved there lot yet. It's a bit harsh for those who wanted to support them and accepted vouchers instead of cash refunds.
Flybe went under... ran a service for just under a year. Took it once... really good and quick for us... Touch down to coffee in our kitchen 48 minutes.... most of that was walking in the airport.
I used to keep a boat at Rocquaine bay for getting home to France when the Condor wasn’t running but always being told that ‘you can’t leave that there, this is a private slip’ etc. Take the tunnel to Calais and find someone to take you from Carteret straight into town or stop in at Herm and have lunch at the Mermaid. Can’t think of anywhere I’d rather be right now than dropping anchor off Shell Beach!
But not from Heathrow, which is at the end of my garden. And I don't think any are flying at present.
