Hi all! So my 848 evo has been running a bit lumpy for a month or so now but I went to take it out last weekend and it was worse... much worse. So I cleaned my bike, and it wouldn't start until the immobiliser code had been entered (never happened before.) Once it started it wouldn't rev freely, stuttering all the way through the rev range. Left it running for a while thinking that maybe a bit of water had got somewhere it shouldn't be but no change. Went back to her this morning, she started first time but now sounds like it's not firing. Plugs have been changed less than a 1k miles ago. Any ideas? Thanks
You mentioned water, has it got wet lately? Is it cranking over ok? You can check the voltage read out I believe? - if you turn on ignition and wait for headlight to go off - what does it read?
What do the plugs look like after you take them out , that will tell you a lot about what is going on in the combustion chamber. Is the electrode clean , black , wet with gasoline or oil soaked?
Re-read your first post, and By "so I cleaned my bike" I guess you used water and a hose possibly? If so, you have hit on the one thing your bike objects to sadly and there are many threads on here covering the after effect of this if it goes wrong. All you can do is leave it out in the sunshine for starters, a cheap but often successful solution, but also as symptoms started before this, you need to methodically go through all ignition related items, looms and connectors looking for moisture and/or corrosion. Just cleaning my bike and a load of water running out of the fuel cap drain made me think of this thread. Whilst electrics sound likely to throw an alternative into the ring have you checked your tank breathers? These little buggers on the underside of the tank can fur up causing rough running, they also mean any water that gets into the area around the filler cap cant escape and could feasibly cause the issue to progress.
The square 4 pin connector is for the servo motor. The in line 5 pin is for the exhaust lamda sensor. Once the manifolds are replaced and the ECU remapped, there is no need for either cable. You can buy caps for them if they're loose.
