What is considered a high mileage for a gs 1200?

 

What, 1200 miles is big miles , shit they are worse than I expected

 

Above 60,000 I’d say. Over half way there myself

 

And well capable of twice that too !

 

About half the bikes out on the Yorkshire moors yesterday were GS's. Notable that they rarely acknowledge other bikes, my theory is that the riders are the same as Harley riders and they are having to concentrate really hard to keep their powerful bikes from getting away from them.

 

I wave/nod/leg dangle/bark(woof) at everyone; wether on GS or Pani.

 

I was out last weekend. EVery biker nodded and I nodded. I was on a GS

 

I was out on the Panzer earlier, I nodded to everyone but I’m not sure they all nodded back.
I think I was going too fast to be positive.....

 

Be careful out there, you know they can get a bit frisky when the power kicks in

 

I gave up nodding to bikers a fair few years back, I never saw where the requirement to nod came from.

I think acknowledging other motorcyclists came from early days when bikes weren't so reliable and regularly packed in. Passing riders would stop and give assistance where possible, part of the shared camaraderie. When I started in the 70s, regularly saw both sides of the coin. Nowadays bikes are so good they rarely stop, so this shared experience has disappeared.
