HOT NEWS!! Marvin, one of the old forum members and admins has been able to get hold of Jimmy, who was unaware that the site was down. We are waiting for Jimmy to check what's happened and connect with us. Fingers Crossed!!
Thanks for posting that and letting all of us know. I got up this morning at 10 O'clock to find an E-mail from Marvin telling me this, came on here to let those interested know, to find your post. Steve R
It was great for Marvin to have been able to get hold of Jimmy. I hope it isn't too late for the domain name, but more importantly Jimmy is alive and well and we now have a way forward hopefully. I have offered to assist in getting some of the 851 and 888 members together and see if Jimmy wants to pass over the reins. Several people are up for it, including me. Chris
I don’t have an 851/888 (Unless you count the bits they included in the M900!) but used to find the forum very helpful, and I’ll happily re-subscribe if it can continue.
I am involved in a lot of things, but would happily help out, especially as a 888 is soon joining the stable
Good stuff. I was emailing back and forth with Marvin, so I think we have the same route to Jimmy covered. All sounding positive, as long as the Domain name can be reinstated (the Registrar policy only seems to give a 2 week grace period before looking to move it on).
Hello Chris....Graham from the other Ducati pages we've briefed along the way. Following the progress and it seems to have gathered momentum in the right direction so lets hope its salvageable with some extra hands on deck now. Nice work
LATEST UPDATE Jimmy has been unable to get the ducati851and888.com domain back (some bugger is most probably holding him to ransom on the price!). He has however secured "www.ducati851and888.net" and the site content is safe and ready to be linked to the new domain. It will be live in around 72 hours, so we should have our home back soon. I have asked Marvin about how we get the funding sorted so this doesn't happen again, and waiting for a reply. I assume it will be like last time with a donation, so we might want to consider a regular investment model for a few dollars each per year, but lets get the site back first!! Chris
I frequent a forum that uses subscriptions, adverts and commissions from purchases through links to companies. I no longer own a 851 but would be willing to make a contribution.
Very well done chaps to bring the site back.I myself have been a member for a number of years (bertie} Its a very informative place and a great niche site.
Those of you who I now owe a beer or 3 to will have to turn up at next years Classic TT/MGP on a 851/888. No matter how many of you turn up I'll be in the chair! Steve R
Marvin, one of the Admins from the site managed to track Jimmy down, so our nudging no doubt helped, but once alerted, Jimmy did all the hard work. Chris
I'm aware of that Chris, but there was a lot of work done behind the scenes. I know that you along with myself and others contacted Marvin and got him to investigate. Marvin had told me how he'd lost interest in answering the same old question, adding that he admired my patience when answering these questions. Steve R
