Anyone tried to combine these two things and succeeded? Basically, I've just ordered a Neotec 2 to replace my somewhat grotty Neotec (1). My Sena kit doesn't need replacing, so I'm hoping to somehow install it on the Neotec 2. However, there's a big triangular shaped lumpy bit on the N2 where the Sena would usually just slot into on the N1. Has anyone tried sticking the Sena attachment to the outside of the lid (rather than slipping it between the outer shell and the inner bit of the lid)? And has that been secure enough not to worry about?
Keti, I was looking at buying X2 Shoei GT Air 2 lids for me and MrsT and like you have the Sena 20s but was told that its not compatible with fitting the new lids. Basically you need to buy the new Sena SLR system to fit! and these are £200+ per set!!
That ‘lumpy bit’ is the blanking moulding you remove to fit the Sena SRL. Looking at my Neotec 2, I’m not sure there is a way to use the clamp fitting for your S20s. I suppose you no longer have the 3M sticky pad option that came with the 20s ? Andy
Nope! In my wisdom I decided I'd never need them. But I can order some. Wondering if that's secure enough tho or whether to just get the proper sena srl.
Don’t beat yourself up, the Neotec 2 is an awesome helmet, it converted me to modular helmets. The constant air flow through the front of the helmet took a bit of getting used to but in the recent hot weather, it has been a blessing. I have the SRL and am very taken by the integration of the kit into the helmet, nothing to disturb the air flow over the helmet. Andy
I think that helmet manufacturers are shooting themselves in the foot when it comes to fitted intercoms. I have a Schubert C3 Pro with Sena 10 integrated. Considered changing for a C4 Pro, but would need a complete new £300 intercom to fit it. I'll keep the C3 for another 5 years.
We use industrial strength Velcro for holding down carpet when called for, I can post you enough for your comms if you want, gratis.
Was thinking of getting the N2, but why is there a through draft with the helmet. Isn't there a shut able vent at the front like the N1 Andy ?
The N2 front vent is either wide open or closed and I found in the closed position, despite the insert, the visor fogged up. The vent allows quite a big air flow through which is not something I had experienced before with an X-Spirit III. I’m used to it now and have learnt to manage things in the cold. Still impressed by the helmet and will buy another when the time comes. Andy
I love the N2 and have the SRL installed, but I am so bloody useless at teccy stuff and the manual is like garbage to me, so I find it so very difficult to get maximum use of it, I cannot get the volume levels to be correct on both GPS and phone, I only use it for GPS now, it’s beaten me. Great battery life and good sound though.
Shoei & Sena specifically designed the helmet & SRL together to be a fully integrated helmet & comms system, as far as I’m aware the Sena SRL1 or SRL2 are the only comms that will work on the helmet. as for the remote, the SRL2 comes with new style remote but the SRL1 does not include a remote.
I found the remote far easier to use than the integrated controls on my 10u fitted to my N1, volume control is much easier.
Interesting to read people's comments on the N2 and integrated kit. I love the helmet but still have to release all the Sena potential. I also find it hard to use the Sena controls with gloves. For now satnav instructions and the odd incoming call works well. I have no issue with the excellent front vent and have not experienced any fogging. This is my 1st flip lid and I'm a convert. The mechanism is great. It's also extremely comfortable and quiet. In conclusion; suggest that you buy the integrated Sena and enjoy all the benefits of the great integration. Just keep the helmet longer. Anyone used the remote control?
I went from a Neotec 1 to a Neotec 2, I sold the Sena from the original Neotec on Ebay, there is no way of fitting the 10U in the later helmet. Neotec 2 is an upgrade from the original, I do find the airflow through the chin vent too much, even on a hot day pity it doesnt have two open positions.
