848 Air Filter Recommendation - Termies

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by RoadRunner, Jun 6, 2020.

  1. Hi, I understand its best to replace the air filter for a freer flowing one now I've got slip on carbon termies on my 848?
I've heard K&N are ok but a tad short in fitment? I've had a quick search on JHP which are supposedly a few mm longer (better seal) but with negative results.

Any recommendations based on experience would be appreciated.

  6. You are almost certainly aware but don't forget to make sure the filter is tightly sealed at either end of airbox. I'm not sure if every variant is involved here, or whether they improved matters but filter location has been shown to be lacking here generally in the past meaning air and dust could bypass the filter resulting in incorrect (intended) charge mixture* and possible increased engine wear.

  7. also, go gently on the endcap/airtube fixing screws - the "nutserts" in the airfilter body can leave a bit to be desired, and can turn in their seat if even slightly overtightened.

  8. I personally use the Ducati Performance air filter and added a bit of foam window seal to the ends of the air tubes to ensure a snug fit.

  9. These are the filters I use , they seal the airbox very well and are good quality.
