Probably a bit late now but HelmetCity have a limited time offer of 20% off full price stock so the new (post April 2019) Neotec II and the latest SRL II for £680 ish. Had my Neotec 2 years but seriously tempted at these prices. Andy
Well done! I'm sure you won't regret it. Good luck on the job front Michel. I have now been pushed by this post into ordering the RC4 so that I don't spend time fiddling with one hand off the bar!
Sportsbike shop £69.99 for the remote control. And I paid £400 for N2 and SRL at Excel bike show a year and a bit ago. Seems to be big money for these now?
£400 was a steal, in fact that was probably very close to cost price, something Shoei have tried to clamp down on for several years. I’m pretty sure there are a significant number of helmets for all brands bought in from Europe to bypass what is a UK price stitch up. The Neotec II post April last year is an updated design with modified cheek pads and chin spoiler. (Edited because I got confused ) The SRL II doesn’t fit the pre April 2019 Neotec II but the original SRL does fit the new Neotec II. Given the latest Mesh technology pedalled by Sena, IMO, it’s disappointing the SRL II hasn’t gone with that upgrade. The latest Sena 50R and 50S are supposed to be the mutt’s nuts. Helmet City’s 20% discount offer is pretty good. I need people to buy the few bits I’ve got for sale Andy
I was going to say that you need to be pretty sure a helmets suits your purpose and fits comfortably if you are going to go down the integrated comms route. I have a Shoei Neotec II with integrated Sens SRL and it works well, although I don't use nearly all of its functionality, but I am concerned that I have sort of tied myself to that brand and model of helmet unless I can transfer the kit to another Shoei helmet or am confident I could at least sell the Sena kit on to someone else. I have sent an enquiry to Shoei asking for clarification on this but if I can't transfer my existing SRL to a new helmet I won't be happy. I have seen this, though, which does provide some comfort:
What happens when you click "post" before you mean to If I'm reading the chart correctly, the original SRL does fit the new Neotec II.
Bloody confusing, the SRL II is not compatible with the Neotec II (pre April 2019) but as you say, it does look like the SRL is compatible with the new Neotec II. My mistake. I’ll go back and edit my post. Andy
Kirky - I bought one of these as I had the Sena/SC1 system in my new Schuberth, I have to say I'm currently struggling with it. The light is so dim you can't tell if it's on and the controls are not very logical, tap, press, long press - you never seem to know what's going to happen.
Shite, just got mine delivered today, still can’t be worse than cocking everything up by tryouts press the helmet buttons.
Ok so Sena handlebar remote delivered and so far I can only say what shite design. It is not fit for purpose . The sprinted clamp is not strong enough because when you are pressing a button it moves the whole unit back, it comes with 2 rubber bands you can put onto the bars, but this means taking off the handlebars etc and that’s not happening. It needs a proper clamp that you can tighten and fix in position permanently, or am I missing something here and being a plonker. Bought it from and Phoned Superbike shop for any ideas or it’s going back. So far as much help as a fart in a spacesuit, said will have to contact Sena for help.
Check that you are installing on the handlebar grip and not the actual handlebars. I have Grip Puppies so it's a tight solid fit but jut makes the indicators harder to reach! It's too expensive and rather fiddly to use even with thin gloves. I wish I'd bought the earlier version that was much less money. Still trying to figure out how to use "hello Google" rather than "hello Sena" which is clunky, limited and rather annoying. There must be a way, just not found it yet
I have literally just come in from re trying on the handlebars and seen this. I publicly admit that I made an error. I was trying to fit it into the metal part of bars and not the rubber grip bit. Now I have tried it, it’s much better, will work, but it’s not perfect. I would prefer it to be much more securely fastened. Must say sorry to Sena for slagging it. But you could and should do much better.
Using "Hey Google" or Siri - Cracked it! Hold centre button down about 3 secs, initial beep then secondary beep opens them up. You can then get all the info and navigating you need while on the move. This will transform Sena for me. Q - Why isn't this in the instructions?
Admittedly I have the earlier version but I place mine around the base of the mirror stalk. That way I still have all my handlebar grip and isn’t a stretch to the indicator toggle.
Well the RC4 remote control will not pair to main SRL unit, have been trying to get a response from where it was purchased, so far with no response other than we will call you back later, which hasn’t happened 2 days later despite repeated calls from me. S...........op are supposed to be brilliant, so far not for me. I don’t like it when a company takes your money quickly but completely fails in the customer service dept. There are no excuses.
Is your SRL paired with any other bluetooth devices ? I read somewhere today in my research on the +Mesh, you can only pair 2 bluetooth devices. If you have your phone and a satnav paired, that might be the problem. FYI, there is a software update for the Sena PC tool and a firmware update for the SRL. Andy
