Hi, hoping I can get some guidance on a query I have with the frame number on my 748. Frame number starts: ZDM748 then the next character is the number 5 followed by another six numbers starting 004. My question is: should the number '5' actually be a letter eg: 'S' and it's maybe a type-o following the addition of a private plate?? Engine number has 6 digits starting 004 also Thanks in advance for any help. Andrew
Should read ZDM748S*XXXXXX* where the XXX will be the actual number. It's a typo, the 5 should be an S for 'Superbike' Engine number will follow same format and will be/should be close to the frame number.
Thanks for that - I thought it should be a letter. Last two digits of engine & frame numbers are only 35 apart. I should mention that the discrepancy in the frame number is on the V5c only. Cheers again. Andrew
I recently had the same on my 748 v5. Was an error on dvla's part, marking it down as a 5 instead of an S, as you have. I returned the V5, with a covering letter, and a pic of my chassis number. V5 was corrected and returned to me within a week.
Seems to be a common mistake on th paperwork. It shows a 5 instead of an S on my 916. I’ve never done anything about it as I put it down to an error during registration but as Markmc posted its worth a letter to DVLA.
MOT tester spotted a similar discrepancy between my frame number and his DVLA computer record last year. He said he would advise then and they would then write to me and require photographs for proof. I heard nothing but about 2 months later a new V5 arrived in the post.
