899 Replacement Battery

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by mapper899, Jun 7, 2020.

  1. Any recommendations for replacing battery on the 899 ?
Is it easy enough to do?
    Thanks Matt

  2. Should be easy enough. I used these people on eBay recently. Seemed OK.

  8. I nearly did bite!

It's a difficult one. I had a lithium battery on my Monster that was written off. I've got to buy new batteries for my ST2 and ST3. I didn't think paying the extra for Lithium (and you must have the right charger) was worth it. Yes, you save a bit of weight but I could/should do this just be eating less!

  15. Matt, just thought I would check Halfords for a trade price for you and it looks like no bike batteries available (probably due to C-19).

  17. Halfords discount prices below....

In all seriousness for road use then an AGM is the sensible option.

I have installed a lithium in my track 959 because it’s a cheap way of weight saving and it needed a new battery. In a modern bike there’s nothing wrong with using them as long as the charging system is up to the job and you understand the battery technology and take care of them accordingly.

Yes if they catch fire then they burn and burn but the way I see it if i’m blasting round a track while propped on a tank full of highly explosive fuel then i’m already taking a substantial risk!

  18. Halfords website is a bit weird - bike batteries don’t appear in the batteries section! Everything motorcycle specific is under the motorcycle section. I found this recently while shopping for oil!
