Yes there is that of course! In the 5 years I had it it went from 18k, and sold for 45k needing a full repaint as I had replaced some rusty bits not not had it repainted. yes that’s an rg500 I restored too. Your not wrong those things guzzle! also sold the rg500 last year as well
That is a beautiful 748.. good luck with sale although like your Giallo Ginestra i think the price is only going one way. Shame to hear another integrale has left our shores, i see yours was ex germany with the sedici badge, did it have them on the front doors too? I have had my blue evo 2 for 18 years now and my 748s is snuggled next to it. Iconic car but with the huge increase in the apparent values it seems the cost of service and parts has gone up too. I remember in 2003 you could get your cam and balance belt changed for £145. Fast forward to this year....at the same specialist a friend had a service... belts a service and it was around a grand... Who did you used to use? I'm a mechanic by trade so i serviced and did my belts in march this year for cost of the parts..around 170.... if mine was costing what yours did it would be gone too! All the best. Peter
Hi peter yes it was a Herman sedici and had the badges on the door too it was serviced at a mixture of auto Integrale and all Italia the last service was a biggie and had Belts, replace brake lines as they were corroded, starter motor, new epicyclic, diff rebuild, torque splitter rebuild, gearbox rebuild, new clutch and general service I’ve had 3x evo’s now and obviously love them but can’t say I miss it. I replaced it with an exige cup
Ah i have used Keith before his prices have shot up over the years..... priced himself out of the market for me....thats alot of gearbox work.... mine is standard and had a clutch just before i bought it.... my rear diff let go 6 months after purchase but at the time they were selling for £100 a go second hand and i got one from a friend who had crashed an evo1.... but it had slightly lower miles than mine. And i fitted it. No problems touch wood since. Had a oil leak from the head gasket and i had Keith swap for a Spesso one. He said i needed a new head..... and changed it for me...... i cannot say it ran or runs any better for it though. Nice Lotus. A licence loser for sure Cheers Peter
Mine was all done as I had an annoying over run grumble that just couldn’t pinpoint - started with the epicyclic as it seemed to be this - opened up and mine was really badly worn which is common on these but try and find another they are like uncicorn turd. Put it back together, nope still the same. Back apart, diff rebuild and that was also housing a totally split main bearing . Replaced that. Nope. gearbox next and the main bearing was so worn it had ovalled its housing so when accelerating the shafts would split apart slightly (which it actually preferred strangely!) and when decelerating they would come closer and start to grumble. When at Keith’s, it had new upper gasket as it was leaking, new head gasket, new turbo, new clutch, new starter, new alternator. by the end I was just fed up with it. Loved it, but started to loath it too. Don’t regret one second selling it for the exige, but feel I need something slightly more road biased as this isn’t the comfiest thing at all. The seats are so hard. But shit me is it quick. Never known anything like it, and with the LS motorsport exhaust it’s sounds amazing.
lol sounds like You had every reason to say good bye . Mine has 100k miles on it. Its quiet. But I'm kind to it. Back in the day the general feeling was that the drive train on standard cars was robust.... earlier cars needed the pins holding the gears into the torque splitter restaking.... and later cars had more stakes iirc. And actually... i use mine so little these days . It was a daily driver for a couple of years.... then i got a runaround and just use it on nice days. My upper sump gasket weaps a tiny bit but i think most do ..... mine had a new gasket fitted when the clutch was done at John walleys.... wasnt long before a leak appeared.... i will change it again when i do the clutch next time. Its 27 years old. Just marking its territory.... and as John Walley told me.... they are never rock tight.... cast iron block matched to an alloy upper sump and a steel lower...... its all moving about with different expansion rates so not suprising they leak after a while. I do love mine but alot like the ducati its always a relief to get home with no problems. Mine has only let me down once. In 18 years. Fuel pump relay failed..... the big grey one up by heater box.... it rolled to a stop in my road.... so we just pushed it home.... bit of diagnosis later..... plugged new relay in and boom.... good as gold. Perhaps yellow ones just get more abuse... when i was buying i looked at 2 blue and 1 yellow.... the yellow was 10k and in bromley in kent.... had 50km on clock. And had been ragged for ever one of them.... horrible stress cracks..... crash damage..... i took one look and walked away. Mine had 80k miles on it but was clearly loved..... haven't regretted it ever. Might tax it today Will be putting the 748 behind it in garage later..... mine is the "copart" one discussed elsewhere on here. It passed mot with flying colours on sat but i still cant use it..... as copart dont supply the vegicles with log books i have been waiting on DVLA for 10 weeks now.... and you have to do by post.. So frustrating as other businesses manage to keep working somehow. If i just used it anyway i would still be fined ....even though its out of my hands. In 2020 you would think this could be resolved on line.
yes difinitely learned to never buy a delta based on mileage alone. this one was actually a good car. It had 110k miles on the clock and had an impeccable maintenance history. All the stuff I did was preventative maintenance, which was probably OTT but if I know something has the chance to go wrong I like to nip it in the bud before it does. back in the day, when I bought my 2nd evo- I had the choice between a red evo1 and a martini5. The martini 5 was slightly dearer at 9.5k so I bought the red one. If only I knew then what I know now!!
Lol yes i considered a bianco Perletto for 15k..... but just couldn't run to it... now a 80ķ car. Oh well. Cheers Peter
Messer, my brother in law owns this place in Warrington (near IKEA) he might trade that against a GT3 or out it on SOR for you. He is also good friends with the Ducati Manchester crew so might be worth a conversation www.vanrooyen-eps.com
hi, thanks, I know vanrooyen. My daughter is friends with his daughter actually. Though, Im not sure that Id be up for paying VR's prices for a GT3.. It would be the same as giving the 748R away FOC and buying a private one
I did indeed, we probably know each other, or mutual friends ! I’m Neal Holden, my mate Andy Duncan lives down your road he owns Prestige Garage in Warrington
