Trial by vol au vent I can just about cope with because at least you don't have to do the standing-up-chatting-politely-to-colleagues-whilst-eating-finger-food-that-really-isn't-finger-food-at-all-and-actually-requires-cutlery thing, with not a table in sight! Been there before... Not ideally for someone as socially awkward as me
Ditto - and conferences - where everyone seems to know everyone (because they all go to conferences all the time) except you - try and find someone you know and eat as many danish pastries as you can and work out how early you can leave......
I think it's possible that we hang out at the same conferences. You're not a commodity derivatives lawyer by any chance are you?
The Danish pastries are counted by someone in the room. How many you eat is written down in your file. Think it about next time you're at one of these meetings.
No just a boring pharmacist that occasionally gets to go to 'important' conferences in London where the same people (rearrange the words 'fish' 'pond' 'big' 'little') tell me stuff I already know.......
