Ducati discontinued the yellow at the point when all the best people had already got one and they didn't want them to end up in the hands of undesirables. Because of that, the yellow ones get free servicing for life at Ducati dealers.
Bugger! Got me on a technicality. My Monster was red hence the forum name. Somehow BigYellowDuke didn't sound right. My other bike is silver & that wouldn't work either. I suppose bigoldfatduke would be more accurate.

Ah-ha! See? Yellow just isn't right. Out of red, black, white and yellow, yellow definitely comes fourth as a Ducati colour. I did have a yellow 749 cos that was the colour they raced them in in WSS (and to show it wasn't a 999). When they brought out yellow 996s and the like they just hopelessly confused the issue.
