  3. I’ve had to bump my 848 down the small hill in our village, 1st gear just locked up think it was 2nd or 3rd timed with slamming my arse down on the seat to get some grip, was difficult to judge how much speed to build up with the length of the hill and how many goes you wanted at it......only just fired after the 4th attempt at the bottom of the hill

  4. It was at the TT some time in the last 15 years since I got the SPS.
It had refused to start after filling up with petrol in Ramsey, so I pushed it round to Paul Dedman's shop where we tried a boost pack to no avail.
Bumped it off with the help of two Scotsmen and headed back to Douglas.
Got a set of starter motor brushes couriered over and had it running again a day later.

  6. 4 weeks ago got stopped at a Garda lockdown checkpoint turned the 1098 off as the termis are a little loud ! What I didn't know was the reg-rectifier was toast ! 2 of the bike cops seen me stranded and pushed me to bumb start it !! Absolute hardship I was nearly home before it fired up o_O last time before that was the early 90,s on my KH100 broken kickstart shaft ment bump starting it all the time !! I was a Poor apprentice at the time so never got around to fixing it !! The 1098 did get a new mosfet regulator so things have improved slightly since my apprenticeship days !

  9. About 2010 when I first put aftermarket heated grips on my Fazer thou and didn't connect them to the ignition (so they stayed on if I forgot to turn them off) I had about a dozen occasions when I had to bump start it, due to a flat battery. Took me a while to figure out to use 2nd gear, though.
