That’s gonna be an amazing track weapon. I followed a couple of CSS instructors on 959’s at Donington. Quick bikes! I could hardly keep up with the buggers and I was on a V4S....
Have you tried the Z04’s? You’re right, they’re pricey all right but they’re also the best. The bite is incredible and they last pretty well too. I nearly went over the fekkin bars first time I used them. Had to recalibrate my squeeze pressure....
I would be very wary of crash bungs that bolt onto the engine (if this is the case here), one guy crashed his panigale at Almeria and the bungs destroyed the clutch casing (and possibly main casings) as that is where those particular ones were located. I am just going with the case sliders on mine.
I was waiting for someone to say that! I’m pretty much ok for weight - could do with getting fitter but at 5.11 with a 32 inch waist I don’t have much to lose unless I want to be a stick figure!
There might be a reason for the first two Not tried anything else - I didn’t find the stock brakes bad at all last year, but as a novice I doubt I would - plus - not much braking at Cadwell I find! After 4 track days I managed a 1.45 at Cadwell on the stock bike so the current plan is to get this one (and myself) dialled in before assessing the brakes. Straight after tomorrow I will be sending the forks off to Maxton to get some fork cartridges installed and then i’m back at Cadwell on the 8th July. If i’m getting a good tyre wear pattern and I feel comfortable to push by the end of the day I think I’ll have destroyed the stock pads so will need some more in time for Donington on the 16th.
This has given me food for thought- the crash bungs are pretty well designed from what I can see - they connect to the engine casing but via multiple vinyl bushing so look as if the weight is spread quite effectively. That being said - enough experienced people are telling me they are a bad idea - and if I take them off I get closer to that magic 170kg figure I have been chasing...... Too late for tomorrow - no time to strip them off - might come for next time!
I’m not looking forward to getting into my leathers on the 2nd. I’ll need to lube up. And I might need a pair of pliers to pull the zip up
Very nice. My local opens back up 10.30 tomorrow, am heading there on the dot to offer what ever is needed (body parts/sexual favours) to lessen my time on the waiting list for a S no date. Sorry for the hijacking, apologies.
Bike looks mint! I never run crash bungs any more! Seen too much damage! None on my R1 none on the V4r
Lovely work Steve Glad it all turned out well! Wheels were worth the wait I still miss mine! In away it was more special than my V4..... Seller’s remorse
That bike looks sweet. I'll have to keep an eye out for you at Cadwell because that's my local track (30 mins away). To improve your laptimes why not ask @Advikaz to give you some tuition or pointers. I know it's what ill be doing when the time comes.
