A Specific Question About Blocking That Hasn't Yet Been Addressed

Discussion in 'Suggestions & Feedback' started by Loz, Jun 19, 2020.

  1. That seems far-fetched.

    I'm sure there's a different explanation.

Thanks for contributing though, it's good to discuss.

  6. Is it possible that people are logging out of the forum in order to read posts from members that blocked them (or whom they've blocked) and then rated the post after they've logged back in again? This assumes that the post they rated is the latest post in the thread as this is the only time a blocked post is visible and the rater must be logged in to make a rating.

That seems even more far-fetched than the fanciful idea of "unofficial" moderators and admins (aka stealth admins).

Whoa. I cannot wait until we get a definitive answer on this crucial issue!

  7. My take on this - but I could be wrong

Just because you block a person - does not mean they can not see what you posted

I assume it means they can still see what you post - but you do not see what they post...

As you blocked them - not they blocked you..

Otherwise - they would know that they have been X communicated...

  8. If somebody went to all that trouble and the post they wrote was derogatory then they truly would be a troll and should be banned.

  10. Just put @Loz on block.

I can’t see any of his posts now, only clue he has posted Is the #post number.

So can he see this post, or comment / rate it ?

  12. Actually, can’t see @Loz posts in this thread at all, but in the Conned Virus thread I can, and could rate it or quote it, even though I can’t see the content of the post.

  16. Maybe some get sick of a member or two following them around the forum, and what feels like every thread, continually having a dig at one thing or another. So they should give up the 90% they enjoy for one or two wankers?

No. They should block them. Not keep bothering mods. Not continually Dobbing them in. Just like life: ignore.

  17. I've found the block function has transformed my Forum experience for the better.
I no longer have certain members following me around the forum adding their two pence worth then moaning to teacher when I call them out as being misinformed.
Then you get the one who is always using the "monster under the bridge" word when he's the worst of them.
Much better, BLOCKED like in the real world.
    Best ..... Feature...... Ever.....

  18. Surely if you don't want to read something, then don't, we all have a choice, ignore and move on.
