Good advice and it works when the sound to noise ratio is not too bad. However, if you are unfortunate enough to have been targeted by another forum user for "special treatment", blocking not only stops you having to skip past what they are saying, it also makes it harder for that other user to interfere with your enjoyment of the forum .. as they are less able to latch onto every word you post. Blocking - however it works here - is an excellent facility for this forum as you are not then solely reliant on how it is managed ... you can, in a way, manage it yourself. Great idea!
aye, its been a blast. i so wish i brought one of the bikes home for one last ride tho i aint overly convinced its gonna happen. my new Reki, empath fortune teller type mate never mentioned it. tho i did get a text from her the other day out the blue telling me to stop poking at whats left of my teeth and take a pain killer. how did she know? did she perform a spell because within a few hours, the problematic tooth fell oot. odd, she knows stuff.
Absolutely and that is where the block feature is fit for purpose. It does have one or two glitches and those are reported/sought for clarification in this, the correct part to ask. Blocking also removes the more troublesome posters, who know they are on ignore, getting their mates to post their posts hoping for another game of nasty ping pong in a way the ignore facility seemed to allow. It has mike yes, even more so when that group feel emboldened by a percieved level of protection by those who should know better. The benefit of blocking has seen a level of control of postings that wasn't there before , just one or two glitches to resolve, clarify .
I do remember one spat that could only be resolved with a dual at dawn. The odd disagreement certainly keeps it interesting, I guess blocking gives the user more control.
In some instances Mike that led to trolling by Rating Emoticons by those malevolent enough to want to do that. eg, when on ignore, although I can’t see your posts you can see mine, which means you can nuke, poo, disagree, facepalm etc continually until I get so fed up I retaliate, which is what you wanted. (You’re not on ignore btw, just using you & I as an example).
It should be enough for most people. You have to bear in mind though that a certain type of person doesn't just not want to read what you might say - they want to take away your ability to say it. Thus, if i wanted to not read your posts, Mike (unlikely scenario but bear with me), i could put you on Ignore. If however, i was vindictive and, say reported every post you made, replied to every one of your posts, rated them Nuke, Dislike, etc ... because i wanted to somehow stop you posting, you could Block me, removing my ready ability to harass you on the forum. Blocking is only really necessary in extreme cases of fuckbucketry on the part of another user. For simpler cases, where you just don't want to read stuff from another user, Ignore is sufficient. Blocking can protect you to a great extent from forum harassment that is not being addressed by the Admins, etc.

i dont get all the upset about negative ratings. somebody even started a thread on them forgetting they where the most vocal when receiving them. start a fight, say something realy out of order or specifically designed to get a reaction, then complain when they get a reaction. how odd.

It’s not that simple for everyone. Constant pints of quoted or rated, tagged for stupid stuff. I’m sure you realise people don’t always manage stuff the same. This place seems to be ‘take care of yourself and your mental wellness’ yet blocking someone seems to be ‘petty and ridiculous’. You can’t have it both ways.

You know I do find it so sad, maybe its this modern social media shite, that geezers are unable to not take offence at the bantering that goes on in a motorcycle forum. Could it be that being behind a screen and keyboard becomes empowering for some and antagonistic to others, in a time before tin'ternet, most of us would have frequented a bike club meeting or twelve, either in a clubhouse or a local boozer. Similar forum based conversation took place and on the odd occasion developed into a lets say a heated debate. There wasn't an option of going crying to nanny and granddad, it was sorted by the individuals themselves and/or the rest of the membership. Over the years being involved with motorcycles I've had a wide range of friends and acquaintances from Law enforcement, to the direct opposite of fellas who had very long holidays, paid for by her majesty and John Q taxpayer. Thinking about all the great debates on all subjects I found only four that were classed as taboo, you didn't fuck around with a mans wife, children, money or his bike, everything else was fair game. As we are all, or at least close to well adjusted adults, even I need medication to qualify for that, we should all have realised by now that as adult males we do like a good piss-take, it seems to be genetic, I can picture a time before the spoken word of cavemen laughing or grunting at another of the group because his hunting skills were lacking! Everyone is their own censor, moderator and administrator. There are times when I have thought, hmmm getting close to the bone, I just think to myself that they possibly just have different levels of morals and sensibilities to me, then treat it as such and either reply in a reasonable manner or take a breath and go read another thread. Lovely sentiments Bob and if only they could be the way things are or will be, but i am the opinion that will never be the case on here, to many diverse opinions and social standings amongst us all, bikes being the only leveller but not big enough to alter what we are.
