Walking back home after a two hour walk down the canal, she’d been everywhere and worked hard already. Shot off down the banking into a field of long grass and disappeared. Spotted her about 150 yards away with something in her mouth. Straight back and dropped it at my feet. What a nose, what a machine.
Pheasant hen, youngish I think. There’s a shoot near us not been active during lockdown so there’s a few about. Maybe wounded as you don’t often see a dog bring a healthy bird down. She was still warm though. Curled on the couch with the missis now fast asleep.
I’ve no idea when any season starts tbh. It’s a professional shoot though so they’ll have obeyed any rules I reckon. There’s a clay shoot over the field as well and even that’s been shut.
] Little bastard , out early doors with friends terriers and he rolls in fox or badger poo. He’s never done that before given him a wash with doggy shampoo and a rinse in the river - he still stinks
Pheasant’s start October 1st but a lot of shoots haven’t bought any birds this year due to the uncertainty over CV. Don’t know what’s happening with the Grouse I usually get my invitations from the estates Six weeks before the season starts on August 12th.
