Have been quoted £500 for transport of my bike to Ipswich from Cornwall and then return 2 weeks later. It’s 385 miles one way, Tbf the guy is very honest and says he’s not the cheapest quote I’ll find but its for a reason, guess he means some get damaged on route. If I did it myself it would actually add up to 4 trips of 385 mile’s, mileage on my van, plus fuel, plus I’m not able to do it when I need to do it due to work. Even though it works out to about 3 miles per £ it still seems an astronomical figure and I was wondering if any others here have Up to date courier services suggestions. Cheers Bondy
I did post something a few weeks back but I can't find it now. I used this lot to get my ST3 back from Downton. They might be a bit cheaper than your quote and I was happy with the service. x1 Tourer Motorbike Prices from £113 View My Quote or call us 020 3514 0931 SP5 to GL13 ref. 6313271 Good afternoon, Thanks for contacting us for a quote to move your bike to GL13. Some bike couriers will do just bikes and they may have higher rates because of that. Others may transport bikes as well as other items and that can make the bikes "share" cheaper. You also have to make sure that they are fully insured, some of the very cheapest may not be
It is pretty far, Google maps shows a slightly shorter distance at a minimum of 6 hours 20 minutes without a stop, so it's easily 7 hours if not more one way. 14-15 hours total driving for the 770 Miles round trip according to this site and a randomly picked mwb sprinter it's at least £120 in fuel (likely to be more I'd have thought unless conditions were perfect) So £500-£120 leaves £380. Divided by 15 hours makes roughly £25/hour Of course that also doesn't take account of running costs like tyres, insurance etc and I presume he's loading & unloading? Also depending where he lives there's the extra mileage to add of him getting to the job and back, that could also be quite a chunk of money. It's not that bad a figure really when you look at the job
Agreed. Also if you take into account I'd have to go up and back Twice! Then it sounds even better. I'll try one or two other quotes from the links above before agreeing anything.
It’s a twat when you have to prize a toaster out of your petrol tank, definitely check they are insured for bikes specifically
