  1. .......... that you've made or installed, which one is the most aesthetically pleasing to you, and which one has had the greatest impact on the handling and/or performance of your 999?

  2. Getting a 749R...:grinning:

  3. Plus 2 on rear sprocket, R1 throttle tube, Oberon clutch slave. All makes it so much more pleasent in all conditions but especialy in town.
Aestheticly it cant be improved upon (IMHO)

  4. I don't own a 999 but the best thing you can do is put race fairings on it and paint um up. Look so much better

  5. I take your point on the aesthetics issue, so which one had the greatest impact on handling/performance, the bigger sprocket, the R1 throttle tube or the Oberon Clutch Slave? (Ok, place them in 1 2 3 order)

  6. Well ,they dont actualy have a direct effect on handling or performance, they just make it easier to ride for longer.
If I put them in order its
    1 plus 2
    2 throttle tube
    3 oberon
The quickest and cheapest way to good handling is to get the tyre pressures right

  7. 1. Finding the right tyre pressures
    2. Suspension set up by someone who knows what they are doing.
    3. Proper ecu remap by CJS makes it a deceptively quick and remarkably smooth road bike

I also went up on the rear sprocket when the chain and sprockets needed replacing which makes it easier to drive in town (although it does mean it goes light on the front at times). The quick action throttle is ok but just puts it where it should be for road use anyway. I am one of a few that do not see what the Oberon clutch thing is all about but never had an issue with the stiffness/smoothness of the lever. Maintained/serviced master and maintained clutch with a properly bled system is just as good. Unlike FE I don't like the black swinging arm and prefer the original Terblanche overall design to the facelifts
Be wary of aftermarket screens, they mostly look wrong and can cause odd effects at speed
Like the most attractive women, they look so much better in the flesh than in a photo and need careful or no embellishments. However some of the race or race rep bikes are gorgeous

  8. Ohlins forks From a 1098 transformed the front end feel of mine.

  9. I’ve fitted an Oberon clutch slave to my KTM SA and whilst the clutch wasn’t a major issue, the difference albeit small is significant

  10. We tend to overlook the modifications that are inexpensive, but tyre pressures are so critical on a bike. Totally agree with you on proper suspension set up; one man’s perfect set up is another man’s nightmare.
