Well, after making deciding to push the boat out a little and buy a touring bike a little newer than the Triumph Sprint ST I bought earlier in the year, I picked up the chosen one today. A BMW GS Adventure XE R1200. Before I saw this bike, I hadn't heard of the XE, just the Adventure and Adventure TE. The TE was the touring edition and the XE was the Enduro edition exactly the same as the TE, but without the LED headlight and tyre pressure sensors. However, this bike was spec'd with the LED headlight and sensors, plus the advantage of the £1k ish BMW / Givi Trekker boxes. I bought it privately today from Scotland and rode back down this afternnon. What a cracking bike with all the toys. Really well looked after and should see a few tours with myself. Now washed and given a liberal dose of ACF50 it sits in the garage making the Ducati's looking like mini-motos @Marco - 58 will be along soon with his congratulations.
That's one of them bikes the fella with the caravans and tractors on eBay had at £4,000 BIN isn't it? Well done Also, you do realise the lock on the top box isn't exactly on the centre line of the rear light and wheel don't you
I guess if your deadly serious about touring, this must be the way forward with that carrying capacity.nice touch with plenty of bins in the shoot.
I hope I haven't bought that one. The fella I bought it off didnlt have any tractors, just a few bikes. I think I'm safe.
You nearly had to take the windscreen off, to get it in the garage lol, nice one ! Looking forward to the travel journals.
Is that not just an illusion on account of standing to one side of the bike taking the picture? No way would the fritzes get something out of line.....
Not sure if it was a Givi or BMW stuff but a mate of mine lost a top box full of kit oncd, fell off between Bracknell and the M3. Apparently there was a known problem with the locking mechanisms on them. Personally I think he just didn’t fit them properly as he also lost his ignition key out of his pocket on the M23. He’s a bit of a liability.
