Hey Ducati lovers. I’m replacing this gasket for the alternator cover. (00’ 900ss )I noticed that the three Bond comes with a little tool. Honestly I’ve never encountered this little tool I am not a mechanic or professional purchased a highly skilled mechanically inclined pot smoking (medication) Tattoo Artist from Pittsburgh. No but seriously what is this thing for ? And also I’ve noticed a lot of people just run a bead when they’re making a gasket but I was assuming it was a smarter idea to spread it around like almost if you had used a brush to make a thin coat between both surfaces. As opposed to just running a bead and smashing it together. Thank you for any input. Everyone’s advice is always helpful !
Don't know what you mean by the 'tool', if it's the steel 'key' with a slot in it you put it on the end of the tube and turn it to squeeze the sealant out (less waste) you only need a small bead on one surface only. I have it on good authority there's enough sealant in the small tubes to do 10 full engine rebuilds
Omg ! That’s what it is !!!! Seriously I’ve bought a lot of different things in my life and I’ve never seen a tube like that come with its own “curling “tool. Omg , how embarrassing. I should erase this thread. Lol. About to use it for the first time I’m just gonna pretty much paint it on one surface , nice and thin. Thanks!
Don't paint it on just put a single bead in the centre of the mating surface and around the bolt holes
Love this, shows we are all human and capable of making mistakes/overthinking stuff etc. Perhaps a little less “medicine” may help though??
A mate of mine called me last year with exactly the same question, I thought he was taking the piss... I'm so tight, I instinctively knew what it was for.
