For Sale Ebay Bikes

  1. :D I think it is overpriced by some margin and I wouldn’t let the seller anywhere near it with a set of spanners but it looks like a nice, early 916 and one to consider, carefully. Andy

  6. AFAIK Jap bikes are the same as EU bikes, however, no 916s officially went to Japan until the 1995 model so someone may have imported it privately. If Japan was anything like the UK at that time there were a number of grey market importers.

To my eyes that's a genuine Varese monoposto some of which did get Ohlins on the rear. I don't believe it would be 2-2.5K to recommission it unless having done it by a dealer. Interesting to see where the price levels are on these one (asking prices at least) and I reckon it will go quickly.

  7. I wouldn’t have it done by anyone other than a factory recognised mechanic with full dealership back up. Andy

  10. Regarding the Japanese 916, I had a import 1990 gsxr750 & was heavily restricted to about 110mph. Infact it was faster 5th gear than 6th, had 4 plastic cups in top of cabs + some electronic strangulation.Got it sorted & was able to unleash the beast.

  11. Weren't Japanese produced bikes restricted to XXbhp if sold in Japan? I think this applied up until a good few years ago. I don't think it applied to bikes that were produced overseas and imported into Japan - especially grey market imports as this one would have been. I'm dragging info from the far recesses of my brain now, so accept I may be slightly wrong and stand to be corrected. However afaik Ducatis were/are only restricted in the power output stakes for USA, Switzerland, and I think, France:thinkingface:
