As you're all a great bunch of people i wanted to share (show off) my new bike So the day has finally arrived when i took delivery of my new toy. I've been looking forward to this day for some time now!! This is a 2019 RSV, is brand new and is one of only 2 in the UK to have this paint scheme (might be 3 now because someone took a liking to mine at the dealership). I have some minor mods for the bike planned over the following weeks and months and these are meerly to do with protection and aesthetics, nothing major and/or complicated. As the bike is in a Matt finish i want to protect it from scratches and stone chips. It will get a full PPF (Paint Protection Film) covering everything, the self healing type!! I have a host of R&G goodies to add to it, which consists of tail tidy, engine casings, radiator grille, crash bungs, cotton reels, fork protectors and carbon brake guard. Next will be the levers, both changed for ASV. And finally the filler cap. Most people say the filler cap is shit so i've purchased an Accossato keyless fuel cap. I wanted to install a carbon hugger, upper and lower chain guards but these are out of stock due to Covid-19. I'll post pictures as items are fitted and see what you all think
Fitted the R&G tail tidy which was a faff but i got there in the end. Was really happy with my wiring and how tidy i got it to look. Arse looks so much better now.
Fitted the R&G aero crash bungs, simple job and although they don't look that good they will add some good protection.
Finally found time (was allowed by the mrs!!) to get in the garage and finish installing the R&G protection stuff. So, i fitted the engine casings and rad guard. Had the fairing off and on again and it was a simple process, much easier than some other bikes i've worked on and i had the added bonus of not losing a fixing
Removed the front fender reflectors and now have little holes in it. I'm hoping i can accept it like this otherwise i'll purchase a new CF front fender.
I hadn't ealised when i bought the bike but it comes with engine case covers. Not sure how they would perform in a crash but they cover more of the engine than the R&G and they also have sound insulation?? Decided that the R&G would perform better in a crash though.
Finally found time to fit the final few pieces. Would like to have completed the mods with the carbon hugger, upper and lower chain guards but they will have to wait until CarbonKing re-stocks its shelves. Ready for the ppf now
Finally the day arrived to have my first ride on the back which was to ride the 15 miles to the detailing place so it can have its PPF fitted. Was nervous and found it very snatchy/jerky. Felt a bit like the mapping wasn't right. I had it in Sport mode as it was it's first ever outing (1 mile on the clock!). It was so agile though and felt like a 600. Need to get used to it. Here's how i look on it. It makes me look big, i'm only 5'7"!! Couldn't get the stand down once i got to where i was going, so need to practice that too!!
Update - The bike went to have PPF fitted on every panel and i was very specific in that i wanted every panel covered. It turned out that it couldn't be done. The shape of the panels meant it was impossible to get full coverage without having multiple bits of PPF everywhere which would have looked shit! The only way to get what i wanted was to spray the protection on, a process known as NGENCO paint protection (http://ngenco.com/?gclid=CjwKCAjwrcH...hoCRawQAvD_BwE). My panels went to Halo Vehicle Cosmetics and were sprayed. What an amazing job, i could swear that they've doon nothing, you just can't tell!! So much better than standard PPF. The headlights were protected with self healing PPF. See for your self.
Back home, full clean, polish and further nano protection and ready for the great weather.....oh hang on a minute where the f**k has the sun gone?
If you have a twitchy throttle try a couple of o rings between the rubber part of the throttle and the housing. Dampens the reaction down when you go over a bump or fart. The snatchy throttle is down to the fuel cut off and really needs a good remap
