Has Anyone Ever Failed Mot For Termi's?

  1. Yep as above, my current MOT states advisory noisy exhaust. Last two didn’t mention it though

  2. I have standard exhaust so I don't have to worry but from what I've seen, last year when I got my MOT the next bike was a M1200 with Termi's - sounded great - MOT tester didn't bat an eyelid. A few years ago a friend had a Honda SP1 with fruity exhaust and was told it would fail, he pointed out that it was fine last year and the tester said that the stations in the area had been getting grief from the Inspectorate so he would have to fail it? (the same tester took the guys other bike, CBR600RR, out for a test ride to make sure the brakes were ok :bucktooth:) my friend found another MOT station after that.
Others have been told 'you have a dremel don't you?' :D

  3. The road legal silencer on my Panzer 1200 (Arrow) always gets an advisory despite being completely standard Arrow end can with all it’s innards intact:bucktooth:

  4. I think your issue is more to do with 'wearing a loud shirt in a built up area' PC Savage :p:D

  5. Because there is currently no written down limit for the UK motorcycle MOT noise test, coupled to the fact that it's down to the tester's discression.

  6. My Monster S4 had Termi's stamped, 'For Race Use Only' but would pass every time. The old guy must've been a bit blind and deaf, which helped......

  7. I'm not sure testers are allowed to 'test ride' vehicles as part of a MOT?

  8. Not the 9 o'clock news, showing your age there bud;)

  9. Hence his quest to find an alternative MOT station :D taking the piss big style I reckon

  10. NOt had any trouble with the cans but got an dvisory for noisy disks if you can believe it :astonished:. They are full floaters though

  11. I have had 5 MOTs all at the same station. The first 4 were straight pass but last year I got the "monitor and repair (Exhaust Noisey)" advisory for the Termi (baffles in).
Have the regs been tightened or do I need a new tester?

  12. No change in regulations regarding noise. As long as it passes, keep going there !

  13. I do know of a tester who failed an old Ducati for loose discs

  14. Were they supposed to be floating?

  15. Yes testers ARE allowed to test ride bikes. If there is any doubt on a suspension component you can test ride to see if the handling is affected. Also you can test ride to check the brakes with a deaccelerometer tester.

  16. Does a motorcycle MOT tester have to have a bike licence  if so why don't many of them know about floating discs :eyes:

  17. Yes mate you need a bike licence for road test purposes. Same as car mot testers need a car licence.

Not sure why some don't know about floating discs mate.

  18. My local test station never starts my bike up while testing, he always comments that he can hear me leave home on my way to the test station though.

  19. Sounds like your drinking buddies.;)

  20. I never had an issue on my Diavel with full termis at MOT time. However, I have read somewhere that 'noise cameras' are being tested/trialed. Dunno what the outcome is or how they work, but it could potentially mean trouble for those of us with noisy pipes in the future?
