  1. Is it worthwhile seeing the suspension guy (if he’s there) on Thursday?
Mine (V4S) was a bit bouncy on the gas exiting quick corners. But a wizard went through my settings and changed stuff. No idea what he did but it doesn’t do it now.
I’ve been told I’m a bit cheeky with the front end and that the V4S is a bit soft. Should I leave alone or fiddle with the dark mysterious art of suspensionary???
I’m no test rider. I just hop on and have a play. Then someone will say ‘woah- look at your front tyre!!’ But it feels fine...

  5. @Advikaz nice write up mate, I agree with a number of points having done a few hundred road miles on one myself. I may have mentioned before that with the Yoshi exhaust, I found the more progressive throttle setting (B mode is it?) smoother and nicer transition off/on. I agree about the forks though, they are just beautiful in feel, and definitely for me close to Ohlins OEM stuff in terms of plushness, obv proper aftermarket kit will be better again. Interestingly I rate the standard BPF Showa stuff but the guy who set mine up (MH Racing) said he hates them, reckons that for fast track riders, under brakes the tubes flex enough that it restricts the piston movement inside, and that they are compromised for cost, despite the advantage of moving more oil with the big piston design.

My mate has a nearly new Yoshi pipe if you are interested in one, it's the long homologated model, but a lot better looking and would probably be a lot lighter, plus still okay for UK noise volumes. Think it's the carbon version, he'd let it go quite cheap I think as it's cluttering up his garage.

  7. Thanks mate,

I'm considering going for a full system but I'd be interested in how much your friend wants for it mate if you fancy dropping me a message as the wheelie bin on the side of mine is making me emotional :joy:

Interesting reading some magazine reviews stating that the BPF turns quicker over the BFF.... I can't say I'd want the BFF to turn any quicker as it is personally.. not sure about you?

Powerslide mentioned to me about mode B, I have to confess that I haven't as yet tried it.

  8. I'll find out and let you know mate, would probably be cheap enough that it tied you over until you go full system and then sell it on, it's still long, but not massive and a damn site better looking. He ended up getting the short massive yoshi for noise, which was nice but obv not practical for noise tests.

what you said about TC. I stuck his bike on level 10 just for a laugh, and when we pulled away and accelerated off a round about he could barely accelerate, he got to about 50mph with the light just constantly on before stopping and changing it, that was on a dry road. It is THAT intrusive, never known a system with so much scope.

I think the next thing will be ECU guys who can tune ABS maps, it's got to happen hasn't it? It's well known that the Jap bikes all struggle with the same 'overly cautious' ABS settings, perhaps in JPN they have tighter laws on it, but they likely use Bosche systems like they do in European bikes and yet the Ducati's and Aprilia's done have an issue.

  9. Hmm, just had a weather check. Think I’ll sack it... fuck!

  10. Thanks Phill,

I've not run the TC that high yet, can't see me ever doing it but for 'the bants init'. You're right though, you can definitely feel it doing it's thing, which is nice. @Monners Gen 3 S1000RR has a reworked ECU and has audible TC (like the HP4 race) and it's a stunning system!

I'd love to see an ABS map and again you're right about the Italian stuff not seemingly having the same problems. I'll be interested to see what difference a more 'focused' track orientated pad will make. Whether it improves things or trips up the abs even more..... I will report back.

  11. You might be lucky...
