Any classic bikes fans going to watch this weekends Cadwell Park "Classic Cadwell" bike weekend, 6th & 7th May. Never been to watch classic racing would you recommend it?
Hi Major I like to see the "old war horses" still battling on track instead of gathering dust in a shed. I`m trialing sunday and (if I get a pass from family duties) monday as well otherwise I might have gone to watch. Here`s a bit of a taster The Rob North (replica) Triumph/BSA triples sound glorious on full throttle. Enjoy.
Should be a good day as long as there is a bit of variety, the multis sound good, but I find it very tedious when there are endless singles going round, to me, they just sound like bits of polythene flapping in the wind. Maybe I would have a different attitude if my dad had not got rid of his Velocette before I came along.
Hiya Steve Good job there are no Goldstar owners on here. If they heard that fine piece of sacrilege, you would be beaten to death with a sack full of Pearson cams  Here`s a list of races for both days http://www.cadwellpark.co.uk/media/836528/crmc_cp.pdf
Cheers Pierre, thanks for that. Looking forward to it and seeing it for myself, a friend of mine is racing so should be a laugh!
I get the "Phillistine" remark quite frequently from friends whose tatses differ to mine, and I did have quite a crowd scolding me in Peel one evening when we were standing on top of the tall wall near the public conveniences watching the beach racing. Someone remarked that there was quite a lot of money's worth of bikes below us and it would be rather expensive if one of us fell off. I looked along the line of machinery including an RC30 and an early 916 and then said "It won't matter if I fall off, I will land on that old english iron at the end", which was followed by a sharp intake of breath all around, some considerable muttering. Then one kind soul decided to inform me "That's a Gold Star". And I have no idea what a Pearson cam is Pete, does it enhance the rate of flap of the polythene in the exhaust header?
Me to mate, the lads at work taunt me mercilessly for my choice of bikes, all good fun. I wouldn`t want an old Brit bike for the road, doesn`t appeal to me either. I do like the old race bikes though, and I like my off road bike, in spite of its shortcomings. Oh yes, yes, yes! I run my off road BSA on modern oil but a teaspoon of caster oil down the exhaust pipe and a bit wiped under the cases gives a similar smell on a hot day. Sheer decadence, but worth it Sorry for drifting off topic a bit Major. If you have a mate racing all the better, hope it stays dry for you.
