  9. Would it not say that if that was the case? I just checked and it just says sold:thinkingface: cheap if that’s the case so I’m presuming it’s not actually sold. I’m not sure eBays the right medium for a bike like that

  11. I still don't get it. Why dick around with a reserve? Just start bidding at he lowest price that you would accept.

You can set a reserve of £10,000 but start bidding off at 1p. All you succeed in doing is wasting people's time and p1ssing them off.

Oh, hang on, as you were. I've just got it: the object of the exercise IS to p1ss people off. After all, you are doing the World a favour in letting suckers bid for your pride and joy!

  12. There is more too it that than, starting high doesn’t encourage people to bid, and also having a reserve is detrimental to bidding as people are less likely to bid on an item with a reserve that is unknown.

the best type of auction is one that starts low with no reserve, that way it encourages people to bid, and when they are the winning bidder they get Ilan underlying emotional attachment to owning the item - and tend to continue bidding. That’s the thought anyways

That was the issue agreed to buy it off the eBay paid him £200 deposit got the address reg sorted collection then he txt at 11:30 and said he’d sold it on eBay as he forgot to end sale - wouldn’t cancel the sale and refunded my money - lesson learned don’t try and be helpful. Well pissed to be honest
