  1. British Superbike rider, 25 year old Ben Godfrey died as a result of a collision with another rider at Donington Park earlier today, I’m sure that I speak for all of us when I say our thoughts go out to his family and friends.

  2. I have just scanned a couple of pics I took of Tony Rutter racing in the world Formula 2 championships at Villa Real. I have fond memories of sitting by this bend in someones front garden watching the race drinking beers served from an ice filled barrel with slices of water melon. Happy days!

The following week was not so happy when we were watching what was to be his career ending crash at Montjuic Park on the F1. Fabulous wheel to wheel racing from the leading 7 riders lap after lap, then only 1 came past. The others going down on spilt oil. We saw Rutters bike go past on the back of a truck after the race, only recognisable by the red with flashes of blue. Rutter spent 4 weeks unconscious, but fortunately survived.

  3. RIP JACK CHARLTON

  4. What a life to have lived.
Shame he did not make it a few more weeks to see Leeds promoted, possibly as champions.
    RIP

  7. My team play Leeds tomorrow and if we win enter the playoff slots. I hope we manage that but Leeds become champions. Premier league is less without them.

  8. I was talking to him a couple of years ago in town. He took a shine to my black Labrador and we had a bit of a chat about dogs and life etc. Inevitably the conversion touched on football and he asked who I followed so I told him I wasn’t that interested in footie tbh. He was surprised that a working class lad wasn’t keen on the game so I asked him who won the TT that year and he didn’t have a clue what I was on about so we agreed it was horses for courses and had a laugh.
    Lovely bloke, rip wor Jackie.

  11. I saw him in Victoria Road petrol station in Richmond. Really nice chap. Spent a lot of time in the Yorkshire dales fishing and maybe a bit of 12 gauge action too. He was certainly dressed for it and looked the part in his Range Rover. :):upyeah:

  12. Swansea? Watched Leeds dismantle Stoke a few days back. Looking really good but Leeds have a habit of grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory. Hope they do it this time!
At least Swansea will have a go instead of parking the bus like most teams. Should be a good game...

  14. RIP Jack, truly one of the greats, not necessarily the best footballer, but his achievements are huge, from humble beginnings. My god today’s panzie footballers could learn a thing or two off our Jack. And Ireland loves him too, second to the pope there!! Maybe first in some houses. Really feel a hole is left that will not be filled ,

  18. Best manager the Boro ever had. And also a lovely man who I once had the good fortune to have a drink with and to listen to some of his great stories.

    RIP big Jack :(
