For Sale Ebay Bikes

Discussion in 'Ducati Bikes For Sale' started by Rob, Jun 13, 2014.

  1. :joy::joy::joy: Fell off my chair laughing.
    8 owners:eek:
Chinese Termi copies - no way they have green stickers and 3 rivets on the back :joy:
For some reason the brake rotors on the front don't look right to me either but I may be wrong on that.
The wheels are definitely post 2000 wheels not 1997 wheels.
The 'Ducati cracked clocks' are not a factory option as made out in the blurb.
The temperature gauge makes me think its an EU bike not a UK bike (UK bikes were in F not C - not that there's anything bad with an EU bike but if he/she/they's not upfront about that what else are they hiding?)
Plus, not least of all, £10k is a a ridiculous asking price IMO.

  2. Temp gauges were either F or C on UK bikes - I've seen many MPH clocks married with C temp gauges on UK bikes. Those 5 spoke wheels aren't forged are they

  3. the wheels are the standard ones off post 2000 bikes ie 748S, 996S, 998 & 998S, also some late 996. All UK bikes in the 90's afiak were supposed to have F gauges, after 2000 it changed. That's supposed to be a 1997 bike would/should have had F gauges unless it was a parallel import - of which there was a lot going on at that time with 2 official importers and several parallel importers. As I said, it's not a bad thing necessarily but it does raise questions IMO

  4. So not forged then
C gauges I have seen were on UK 996R's - so they are after the change you mention...

  5. Is 996R post 2000? - I think so. The UK went all EU around then, I guess post the end of this year they'll be going back to F :joy:

  6. Yes, 2001

  7. That is exactly what it is.. Why are people being negative when they don't know about the bike?

  8. 5k for a 2000 model 748R ? Why do you say its shite?

  9. Its a 2000 748R registered in 2001, the bike is £5000!!!! The reason its 5k is its had a colour change, needs a new nose cone and the side fairing painted along with a good tidy up.. It's the cheapest 748R in the UK, should I charge more for it?

  10. It's full of kids looking through the sweetshop window with no pocket money, this thread.

  11. If that's a genuine R I'll buy it at 5K regardless of colour change. What's the engine number please?

Or, being polite and I apologise for my attitude, why are you selling it at 5k? It's so cheap it screams 'something's not right'

Sorry, manners, welcome to the Forum as well :upyeah:

  12. Do you understand how damaging theses sorts of posts are? You're saying its a scam when you have no evidence to back up your claim. Why are you saying its a scam? I sell motorcycles for a living and took this bike in as px. I'm happy for anyone to call me, come see the bike, do whatever checks they like so they're comfortable. This is a genuine sale and genuine 748R.

  13. If anyone is interested in this bike then please call me, the number is in the ad. I'm happy to supply engine numbers, chassis numbers, registration numbers to genuine people, I'm not comfortable posting them on a forum. I sell motorcycles for a living and took this bike in px. I'm happy for anyone to pay more money for it if they wish? I think the fact that the bike has had a colour change knocks the price, it also needs a good tidy up. The previous owner had this bike for 15 years and its only ever had 3 owners. Its going to make a cracking project bike for someone.

I'm dumfound how people can say its fake when they no nothing about the bike and have no basis to say so other than there feeling, it can be incredibly damaging..

  14. If it's a genuine 748R take a picture of the engine number please and post it here.

The reason people, including myself are sceptical is that 748Rs are worth considerably more than 5k even if they have had a paint change and need TLC to restore them. The fact you are a dealer and took this in px implies the owner sold it to you for much less than 5k which in itself implies either the previous owner doesn't know the true value of a 748R or it's not and you've been duped.

I'm very happy to be proven wrong.

I'm also very happy to for you to offer it for sale at it's true value so that you do not lose out.

Maybe this is a genuine mistake but too often there are too many bikes sold on eBay as something they are not.

  15. I sent a message via eBay already - keep it off the Forum if you want, let m know the engine number with a photograph please

  16. I think you're the guy that called me today and then sent an email via ebay saying I leave the bike thanks, as its all over the Ducati forums?

I'll be free anytime after 10am tomorrow for a chat, happy to send you pictures of whatever you need.

    Regards

  17. Not me.

I first asked you for details of the engine number this evening at 22.03.

I'm genuinely interested and will buy at 5k if its a genuine R. But as per my request via eBay I need to see a photo of the engine number please, you have my contact details via eBay. I will also need you to take off the right hand fairing and photograph the cam belt covers and lift the tank and photograph the airbox for me please.

  18. So my suggestion is, speak to the seller 1st before making judgment and posting things on the internet that can be damaging. You haven't even spoken to me, yet you have made a judgment, you have no facts what so ever and have quoted I'm a scammer.

Hopefully when you have spoken to me you can post on here I'm a genuine seller.

  19. Cal, I will call you in the morning.
I am happy to post that you and it are genuine if that is the case.
I am happy to retract my statement that it smacks of a scam if it is genuine.
When I call I will ask for the same 3 photo's I've asked for in my eBay messages.

  20. Do they go 5 years between belts? I thought it was 2 years on them.
