The R53 is better than the R50 They do suffer with lots of problems check the MOT’s that will give you a good inkling Brake lines Gearbox Power steering pump Things like front steering you will find tyres ball joints on MOTS Oil leaks
I have an R53 it was low miles 38k very well looked after I viewed around 7 and test drove them all and each one had an issue The one I have was the last one I viewed Watch for lowered suspension and tyres rubbing on wheel arches Exhausts are another they rust through I have stainless steel on mine
Any other issues which tend to be hidden or latent and might not be picked up on an inspection and short test drive?
Zhed I have had two minis including a cooper s definitely research these cars I can’t say I owned them long enough to comment on reliability but I have seen numerous breakdowns and in repair facilities also my mate mechanic said they are problematic just look into it mate
Windscreen seal check Seals around the door where the window goes into check as people pull the door open before letting the glass drop Feel the carpets to see if they are wet if so there is a leak and the floor pans will be rusty
We saw some wrecks I can tell you I had it drummed into me NOT to open the door until the glass drops and I tell anyone that gets in my mini they refuse to get in now Oh glove box catch open and close to make sure it does nothing worse than it coming open all the time
Just check out the parts that normally fall apart - located between the front and rear bumpers Would sir consider a Lexus?
