1260 Wheel Nut Torques

  1. Hi.can anybody tell me the front and rear wheel nut torque settings. 1260 multistrada
    Cheers steve

  2. Front wheel 63Nm
    Rear wheel 230Nm

  3. Really bad design by Ducati; they should have attached the single sided rear wheel with 5 small bolts like the BMW instead of one massive one. Removing a SS swing arm rear wheel from a Ducati requires a big breaker bar and massive socket and putting back on requires a significant torque wrench.

  4. the design brief on the single-sided swingarm was for use in endurance and superbike racing, to reduce the time it took to remove and replace the rear wheel/tire. from that perspective, it was actually a successful design solution.

customers have pushed back when Ducati has gone to traditional swingarms, much as they push back when Ducati strays away from their other design constant of the trellis frame.

even though the majority of Multistradas will never be raced in endurance races or superbike races ... Ducati listens to what its customers want.
    ;-)

  5. Well understood John but as you note, most of us are not racing our bikes! I'm on a number of Ducati forums and a very typical, repeating issue is "how to get my wheel or hub off?". Horrible stories of gorillas and scaffolding poles. It would be very easy for Ducati to design a single sided arm with a multi-bolt fix. My MS is an Enduro so I'm OK!

  6. Even with my design-engineer hat on I think single-siders look bloody good, despite mass penalties for adequate stiffness. Even a BMW R1200S wheel & back end looks great because of the s-sider...:). We have to admit it - a majority of us buy our bikes on both looks and performance.

  7. Agreed. My other Ducati is not the most practical bike but she is lovely.
